My parents haven't given me a birthday or Christmas present for the last five or six years, because they said they couldn't afford it. I never did complain, and now I've moved out, I'm twenty, but is this reasonable, or is something wrong with them? I never could afford presents for them either, but I was a teen with no allowance, and they're adults.
I don't really care, but my friend says they are rotten parents and should have found a way.

My 17 y.o. step son has been living with us for the past 7 years. He will be graduating in June. He plans to move back to his mother's so he'll only be here another 75 days.
At his mom's he's allowed to do whatever, whenever, wherever, he wants and at our home he has rules and consequences. Friday he cut school and his mom called and lied for him (I took care of that).
Last night at a family meeting things got pretty heated. At one point he told his dad and I to both f**k off. He said he couldn't wait till he graduated so he could leave. Believe me, I made it clear that would NEVER happen again.
My question is, should we kick his sorry butt out? My husband wants to take a 24 hr. cooling down period before any decisions are made. Thoughts?

So many people responded to my question about "Relationships 101."

Let's say that married couples had to pass a course in parenting skills if they expected to have children and send them to public (or parochial) school. They could be given a one-time municipal tax exemption and possible future tax breaks for taking additional classes.

What would be the possible topics of some lectures in "Parenting 101?"

How about "ShopKo vs Abercrombie - real world economics."

And i don't want b.s answers or stupid immature replies, my situation is dead serious and time isn't on our side!
I'm 7 weeks away from delivering my 3rd child. I already have a 2y/o and 1y/o. Recently it came to our attention that my 6y/o neice (in-law) has endured some heinous abuse for a year and has been removed from her mother and placed with her grandparent's. Her grandparent's have been told due to their age and health they are not good candidates to raise this child, her mother is proven unfit and so is the father. No one else in the family is stepping up to help this little girl, except me and my husband, even then i have some major major concerns and would like to talk to somone who has been through this....who has adopted/fostered a relatives child and like i said - no childish pranks, no immature teens....just a serious adult who knows what they are talking about...i don't have time or tollerence for time wasters. This is an incredibly serious and upsetting situation.

My baby is seven months old. I love her to death but she is very, very whinny! I knew that being a parent would be a very demanding job but I am so stressed! I work two jobs and try my best to take care of the house, but I am going insane!!!!

My husband and I have NO love life (in fact, we are more like roomates). I don't even sleep in the same bed with him anymore, the dogs sleep with him. Everything is so screwed up. How do you deal with the HUGE changes that a baby brings?

NOTE: Please, no rude answers. If your answers is rude, please refrain from answering for I am looking for serious advice. Thank you.

Does that necessarily mean they heard it from the parents or can kids sometimes just be curious.
Ex. A 3 year old calls someone fat. Does that mean they heard it from their parents?

I definitely think that these kids should be taken away because this is a form of child abuse. The correct thing to do is to let these kids know that what they're doing is not acceptable in the eyes of God, and there are consequences for these actions. Parents who let their kids off and be gay (Mostly liberals) are seriously subjecting them to child abuse. These parents tend to lie to themselves and say that their kids are born that way, but there are ex-gay ministries who can cure these children, I saw it on the 700 club.

Our 16yr old son has met a 32yr old woman online who has convinced him to move out of state and he is determined to do it. What can we as parents do to stop this child who has apparently lost his mind and believes he can live completely on his own w/an unfinished education and no job. We have considered a bootcamp or something similar but he is dead set against anything we suggest and we are afraid he is going to run away from home. What are his rights and our limits?

Can anyone recommend a good infant float? My son is 6mo old and I live in Az, it's already getting hot and I want to take my son swimming. Wanted to know if any experienced parents could recommend a good sturdy reliable float. Something that he will be able to have good balance in. And add where you bought it or any links. Just thought I'd ask before I go out and buy one. Thanks...

My daughter is having her first baby in July. Her husbands parents and sisters all smoke, my daughter and husband don`t.
They live some way from them so don`t see them often.
Problem is they all smoke around her and the other grandchildren and she can`t bear to stay there .
Apart from that she gets on well with them.
When her baby is born and they come to visit how can she ask them not to smoke in the house or when baby is around without causing offence? Her husband says "We don`t see them often any way".
She feels they think her stuck up as she sat apart from them on their last visit when she was 12 weeks pregnant.

i think i just made a friend at school, and i do not know what to with this friendship?
i am attending High School. Yesterday i was waiting in the line to go to the vending machines to get a bag of Corn Nuts. However i was standing behind this girl and i was just giving her the time to get something so then she gets a bag of cookies then she wanted to get another item for me when i thought it was for her so then she bought a small bag of Corn Nuts and Sunflower Seeds for me with out looking at me. So then i still think it all was hers until she turned towards me, tapped me on the shoulder then smiled at me and asked me: Do you want a bag of Corn Nuts and Sunflower Seeds? Then I said: How do you really know what i like? She said her friends have been spying on me a few weeks ago. i said: Well ok why was i not told about it? She said she does not know why.
Here is my question:
Do you think that she has a crush on me?
What should I ask her when i see her the next time?

I am afraid that my ex-wife's new boyfriend is a pedophile. I'm not sure though but I am not sure if telling my boys that it's not okay to touch others down there or to allow themselves to be touched, that they will form some sort of complex about it, and either rebel, or somehow feel like it's a dirty place. Any advice on how I can talk to my boys...they are 3 and 5...would be very helpful, thanks.

Okay, I am living in the houston area and trying to find a children's motorcycle to buy my son that is turning 7 years old next week.

But, here is the problem. His stepdad doesn't think that he is ready for the motorcycle yet, and I do. I actually told him like 2 months ago that I wanted to buy this for my son and he agreed. But, now he is changing his mind.
He is a very caring and loving father to my kids, but this something that my son really wants and I want to get it for him. We have been promising him this for the past year or so for Christmas and then his past birthday, but money was a little low then.
What should I do?

Oh, can anyone tell me where I can find them in the houston area, other than Wal-Mart and Toys r' us?

Last weekend, I disciplined my 5 year old girl by telling her I was dissapointed with her for behaving like a spoiled brat. I refused her outings and the swimming pool that she was looking forward to (no shouting and no hitting).

The problem is that I am divorced and only see her for every other weekend and after she was returned home, I got an irate call from the ex telling me that my daughter had cried since I left and that I had no right to traumatise our child...

She's threatening all sorts of things now...

So, do I have the right to influence the way my child is brought up now that I am an occasional dad? I would prefer our weekends to be joyful events, but if I have to let everything go by, even if she is being bad, then I can't see any real reason to suffer these visits and it would kill me to not see her at all...

My story starts on march 1st 2007 it is a very hard reailty that
parents face on an everyday basis and i would like some help and know how on how to change a law. you see on march 1st i walked in my kids room and caught my 13 yearold doing something with my 4 yearold . i was in shock ,but instead of beating the heck out of my 13 yearold i called the cops and he was arrested for lued and lavious molestion on a minor child.
This has really rocked our world right now . and i have been looking for help and open to suggestions in all forms but it is impossible becaause hillsbough county don't carry the law we need to proctect our victims when they are in the same home. I am being forced to take my 13 yearold on march 21st and put him back in my home with the victim. if i do not comply with the state i willl get arrested. and i have been threatned so.All i want to do is protect my baby from futher harm and abuse from my 13 yearold. How is she suppose to do this?
Please don't answer silly
