Sadly, we just found out that my son's best friend @ preschool has been unexpectedly diagnosed with stomach cancer. This is my son's 1st yr. in preschool but really got attached to this boy. Its been 2 wks since his friend left for the hospital & my son has been isolating himself from others, aggressive behavior, throwing huge tantrums & even stepped backwards in potty training skills. I provide lots of TLC & his teacher is very supportive also. But he just won't talk about it. What else should I do to help him to deal with his feelings? How can I get him to surface them? We've sent gifts to his friend to let him know he's missed. any other suggestions?

I am 16, and last weekend I was caught at my house drinking with two of my (girl) friends. It was late, and we weren't going anywhere. And there were no boys there. I know that it's illegal and wrong to drink underage--and that is not what I'm asking.

I am grounded for a month (until Christmas). My dad says that even though it was just at my house, it means that he can't trust anything else that I say I'm doing (which I know is understandable).

Do you think this is a fair punishment? I still have my car, phone, computer, etc. I just can't hang out with ANY friends or go to ANY friend related activities.

Even though I'm a kid, I really do believe that a month is a bit harsh. Simply because it was just girls and we were locked in my house for the night.

Do you think this is a bit severe or is it a decent punishment? And yes, I know I am bad and wrong and whatever else.

My wife and I have had a rocky marriage for the last 9ms b/c I had to travel a lot for work for 2007. A couple weeks ago I came home and caught her cheating. Now we're starting the divorce process and she's staying w/ her mom by choice.
My issue has to do with our three boys. They're 12, 8 and 5 and currently living w/ me in our home. I'm asked daily about why mom isn't home and I'm not sure if I should tell them what their mother did or just say that Mom and I weren't getting along as the reason why she's gone/we're getting a divorce. Maybe only tell the oldest and not the other two? I honestly have no idea what to do, what the effect of telling all or one of them the truth will be or what will happen if they have to come into court during the custody battle and they hear the reasons behind the divorce. They talk to/see their mother from time to time and when they ask her why she's not home, she blows it off.
Any suggestions or advice?

my 24 yr. old daughter lives w/me w/two of her three children. Although one of the three lives w/our cousins due to financial issues that they keep her & pay for her preschool. Almost every night gainst my voicing I don't like her going out and leaving the kids in bed although I am asleep.. she goes anyway. The oldest child knows she goes out & is loosing respect for her mother, plus my daughter has gotten drunk while out there & had to be hospitalized 3x's. She gets into destructive relationships w/men & recently got medically ill (if u know what I mean). She is quite depressed & sits home all day sleeping as the two children that can go to school do, and she has the 2.5 yr. old at home. At times I think about having her evicted, but am concerned about the well being of the kids. I've been advised to check into a temporary custody of my grans but am 52 yr. old, single and want to retire in three more yrs. I have talked to, threatened her repeatdly to no avail. Any suggestions?

The only slim jeans I can find start at size 6. Right now he has the ones with adjustable waistline (from Old Navy) I have to pull the straps so much that it makes the jeans bulk badly under/around the waist. He also complains that they are uncomfortable. He recenlty went from a size 4 to a size 5. The 4's weren't so bad.
any advice?
Thanks!

my 5 year old daughter was diagnosed by her doctor with acid reflux/GERD and was put on prevacid for kids. she has been on it for 2 weeks now and is still getting symptoms like before. stomach aches(especially in the morning). she is a very healthy eater, surprisingly for a 5 year old. loves veggies and fruits, fish, ect. and we dont let her eat a lot of junk or soda.
i had asked the doc if it could be lactose intolerance, and he said he didnt think so because she doesnt ALWAYS get a tummy ache after eating/drinking dairy.
anyone have a child with symptoms like this that was diagnosed as something other than acid reflux? in the back of my mind, i am always worried it could be something more serious.
**thanks**

To keep this kinda brief... SB777 is a referendum that was signed into law by the Govener in Ca. This bill is gona pave the way for onesided views on sexual orientation to be implemented in the classroom, while at the same time deeming contrary views as fostering a " discriminatory bias". If this get's passed into law then as early as 2008 grades K-12 ALL SCHOOLS WILL BE FORCED!
To positively, teach about homosexuality, bisexual and transgender student issue's. If it's not stopped.... SB777 is clear that... NO TEACHER INSTRUCTION and NO SCHOOL ACTIVITY, could "Reflect" or "Promote" a "DISCRIMINATORY BIAS AGAINST ANY PERSON...." Who is homosexual, bisexual or transgender...
What SB777 Does... IS SILENCE ALL OPPOSITION TO IT... and Teacher would be "FORCED" to "PROMOTE" homosexuality!

For more info you can Email me!
I'm not against anyone and the life that they choose, But I am agianst them teachin that to my 5yr. old

you're child should stop calling you "mommy"?

I'm fourteen and still call my mother mommy but people laugh at me and call me immature. I don't think it's wrong, do you?

If a child is apprehended, & you're not sure if you should get a new lawyer or not (Legal Aid, btw) when should you consider getting a new one ? What if you're concerned bout the time factor cuz you don't know where your son/daughter will be on Christmas day ? What's the first sign of getting a new lawyer ? If someone has cases that are similar to the one you have, should you consider him to be an expert ? What if he/she isn't doing what you want & seems to be on the other side ? Again, time is a factor cuz of the holidays. Should you go ahead when you're not sure if the other party involved has a lawyer yet or not ? Could you be wasting precious time by getting a new one ? What are some things that you should know bout your lawyer (what he/she thinks should be done to win your case) Do lawyers have to win to make $ ? Is that the motivation behind it ? Please reply asap. Ty !

I always have this problem whenever I try discussing the next best path for our child's education. He would either immediately shoot my idea down the drain or show that he's Mr Know It All and discourage my further intervention into our child's education. He thinks I have been too overly concerned with this issue but tell me, which parent wouldn't? I feel very stressed and frustrated whenever I'm being discouraged, especially by him! I need advice badly!
