My battery was not charging so I had the alternator replaced 6 months ago with a 'rebuilt' one. It was fine for 3-4 months. Then the battery light came on again, tester showed 10.5 V and the starter was very low. I got a new battery. The shop wanted to sell me a starter, but I did not believe that I needed one.
Two months later, my battery light came on- stayed on- but the car restarted fine. The tester checked it for 12.5 V, it was low.
I only drove about 15-20 miles. The shop refused to warrant the battery, because I did not want to replace the starter.

1. Should I check out the alternator again for problems
2. Do I need a starter?

I have 2003 Hyundai Sonata, a great car besides this problem.
Thanks, in advance!

When you do the driving test to get your license, do they do a vision test if you wear contacts? They did when I got my permit but I wasn't sure about the driving test

I own a 99 Heritage and lately the weather has gotten cold. The bike initially won't idle without the choke as I would expect, but lately there has been a problem. About five or ten minutes into a ride, the bike will stall and not restart for several minutes. During this time, the bike smell like fuel. Sometimes, the bike will make a sound as if pressure is being released in the engine, after which it immediately starts. Any ideas? Thanks!

I hit the curb and cracked a good chunk out of my bumper and part of the underbody. Do I necessarily need to get insuranced involved or can I just take it somewhere and pay out of pocket to get it fixed? Thanks

My older truck, 2002 Dodge Ram 1500, overheated and the radiator busted at the seam. So got a new radiator put in and a thermostat and PCV valve, started home and it overheated in like 2 miles, so parked it and left it for several hours then came back and tried to make it home. Within a half mile the muffler was glowing red and it shot flames out the tail pipe. So what could be the cause of this, I have heard that it could be a head gasket, a catalytic converter, or a waterpump. What do you think it is? It has 130,000 miles on it.

Had a big leak in the van on the front of the crankshaft. Figured it was the seal, so replaced it. Still leaked lots. The oil was getting the timing belt slippery and slipping the water pump roller so it would overheat the engine.
Neighbour mechanic said it was coming from the front crankshaft cover. Is this likely??
