I have a problem with misfiring on my Maxima. Suspect coil problem. Dealer unable to identify which coil. How has this been achieved without replacing each of the six?

i got this car a few days ago and checked the plugs they are good. but the motor is hesitaing sometimes, and to add to that it starts on the third try almost everytime! any suggestion? this is a none turbo z

I have noticed on other places on the internet many, many, many complaints about the 02 Altima having to have the engine replaced, the pre-cat and cat converter replaced, and blown head gaskets all within 70,000 to 80,000 mile mark. I just had to get the head gasket replaced in my 02 Altima (to the tune of $1600). Is this a design flaw with the engine or what? The Nissan dealership won't give me solid answers (they seem to dance around this problem) and Nissan comsumer affairs is pretty much useless. I take good care of my car, bring it in for all the maintenance checks. It just bothers me that after 70,000 miles the cat converter went "kaputs" as did the head gasket...to be honest..I want to sell this car and run for the hills. Is there anyone else who has had these problems? Are there any Nissan Tech out there who will give me the truth about why this is occuring with so many 02 Altimas and how to completly, totally get this problem taken care of?

I am talking about base models around 70k miles. I usually steer away from american cars but the 300 has just a bit better mpg, better saftey tests, and a longer standard warranty(not to mention the looks). The maxima has a little more powerful engine (not major deal for me) and a moonroof(which I love) and looks good. Is the maxima more reliable in the long run or the 300? (not concerned about resale value since I plan to have either car for about 4-5 years(around 20k miles a year) )

Hello Hello, i am looking to buy a car. and i was considering a 4th generation maxima(1995-1999). I was wondering if anybody had any problems with them at all??... i also heard something about a timing belt problem... but then i hear that they use timing chains instead of belts... anyways... anybody have any input?

My car is VAN NISSAN Quest 1999, there is a light says "Service engine soon". The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the electrical circuit for knock sensor 1. Probable Causes: 1. knock sensor defective 2. Ignition system fault-spark plugs,ignition wires, coil 3. Vacuum leak 4. Injector fault 4. High or low fuel pressure. The mechanics told me that I have to replace the knock sensor. is it true or not, thank you,,,

Looking for a sporty car that's a coupe or convertible, up to around $35k, around 300hp. What car would you suggest that's already out? Know of any cars that are coming out in the future [within 1-2 years] that's like that?

I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima SE 6-speed Manual with 82k miles on it. Nissan put a new clutch in it, change the oil and brake pads 1 month ago. They said it need a tune-up but I wasn't trying to give them another $500-$700 dollars on top of my $1500 bill.

My girl was driving it all yesterday. She parked it on a hill with the front up. Turn the ignition and it wont start. It has a very strong turn and all the lights work but it wont turn. Its barley any gas (thanks Tiff) in it. She put only $5 in it 1 Mile away from our home.

I know its nothing major (well I hope so). Before I tow it to Nissan and they tell me something crazy is wrong with it that cost $1000-$2000, I wanted to ask a couple people. No Check engine lights or anything else is on. What could it possibly be or should I check something? Please help.

i bought the car with the sr20de motor already installed, until i blew it up... now my option is to either buy the sr20de for $600 or the sr20det for $1200. i already have the innercooler and turbo that i could put on the sr20de but i dont know if its very healthy for the engine

I really dont wanna fork out the 125 to replace it if all it is, is a clogged pipe or something, does anyone know how i could go about it myself to diagnose the problem before i replace it? what could have caused this? its been running fine for a long time now, and i cant think of anything tht would cause it to do that.

Here's the problem....I have no power especially at low rpms...while in neutral i get hesitation until about 2000rpm....then the power picks up through the rest of the range. Every now and again i will get a rough idle. I have absolutely no power while in gear. i have been racking my brain over this for a while now and i haven't figured it out....heres a list of things that have been checked....

Engine Timing (new belt installed too)
Ignition Timing
Distributer (yes...the whole thing)
Throttle Position Sensor

Air Filter (same with no filter)

My experience is that the thermostat blocks and once its blocked water does not circulate and the car overheats.

Hi, fancy a Grand Espace, circa 2005.

Test drove a 2.2 diesel auto, no go at all and that was just with me and sales rep on board.

Want to tow my caravan, carry 6 bikes {on the roof} plus wife & kids and enough stuff in the boot for upto 5 weeks away.

The 3.0 and indeed 2.2 Ren diesels keep blowing up, the turbos go pop every 30 to 50k - so I read !!

They also do a 3.5 V6 petrol unit, made by Nissan, as used in the mighty Nissan 350Z and many USA Nissan cars.

The renault Grand Espace 3.5 will do almost 30 MPG on a good day {only a bit less than my old Volvo 2.3 RWD petrol} and goes like stink!! Test drove one, went home to think about it, phoned up to say I'd have it, but been sold 20 mins earlier!!

Does anyone have a 3.5 Esapce or indeed owt with a 3.5 Nissan Petrol engine. - If so any probs with the engine?

I'll only do 5k to 7k yr in it, so will only cost about £300 to £400 to run more than a diesel. Used pertol versions sell for less too.
