Bought my 03 Honda Intercepter last summer for $4000. I would call that very reasonably priced. I absolutly love it. Sport tourer but with the full on low bars. Only 800cc but 110HP. It's a V-4.
I road the Suzuki 650 and 1000, V-twins. Both very nice but the Honda seemed like alot more bike.

The SV1000 is nice, but I'd go with a V-4 if you can find a nice one. They have all the torque advantages of a V-twin, but have the top-end performance of a parallel four. The low center of gravity is helpful when driving in traffic.
The Honda Interceptor comes to mind... doesn't matter which year, they're all good. I have an '83 750 interceptor, and it would blow your mind. there was also a liter model for awhile, but that was only for a couple years in the 80's. The current model is 800cc. I think Kawasaki and Yamaha also made V-4 bikes for awhile too.

RE:
Good v-twin sportbike?
I'm thinking of moving to a liter-bike this year. Any good suggestions on a reasonably priced v-twin sport bike/sport tourer? RC? SV?

The Suzuki SV's are nice riding bikes, but after those SV engines break in they sound like a piece of junk, they sound like they have loose nuts and bolts rattling around inside the engine.
The best and the top of the line V twin sport bike out there is the Honda Interceptor, its a V4 vtech engine similar to a car engine, its 800 cc, but its no slouch, at 110 hp and 78 ft lbs of torque.
The Honda Interceptor is the type of bike you keep for 10 years and never grow tired of it.

I think you should consider the Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom. It's the same basic bike as the SV1000, but set up as a dual-sport for more versitile on & off road capability. There is a large group of after-market accessory dealers providing gear for the V-Strom too, so you can pretty well customize the bike to any extent that you want.
