My husband and I, just finalized my nephews adoption, he has been living with us for almost a year now, so he's not new to our family. This is a really sticky topic, within my family right now. Not everyone is happy for us and I dont want to upset anyone any more then they already are, seeing as though we are going to have to spend the holiday's with them. Should we celebrate? Is an adoption something thats normally celebrated? I am clueless.

I have a boy, he is 1 year 6months old. When is a good time to potty-train him? My daughter she was like 15 months when i started training her. Can someone give me some good tips of how to do this. Please dont tell me to put a cerial in the pot and let him aim at it b/c he will just want to grap it out. I have tried to get my husband to take him with him and show him how its done, but he's always gone and most of the time he wont bc he's afraid of peeing on him (lol). He sits down on the pot like a girl does, b/c he watches me and my daughter go. Is it too early? Any good advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago how my daughter came home from dads weekend & was telling me in DETAIL how daddy had oral intercourse with his girlfriend -down to the faces she made, and how he moved his head on her body.
She is FOUR YRS OLD. I called CPS & reported. They told me they'd get back w/me. Nothing yet. I called OAG & they told me I did the right thing in reporting it to CPS, but now I have to get an order called "safety plan" in order to keep my daughter from visiting him OR he could take me to jail. CPS hasn't gotten around to my case and OAG says to let her keep going over there. If this was worse (God forbid) & someone was hurting her, I'd STILL have to send her to his house. The system SUCKS!!!
NE ways, my question.... what should I do? Should I continue with this "safety plan" where CPS changes the visitation orders? IF I go forward, CPS would come to my home and interview my daughter, ask her questions about the incedent & I'm afraid of traumatizing her more!

The top 2 for me were: "How can you have nothing to wear? Your closet is FULL of clothes!" and "Why? Because I SAID so, that's why!"

Did you find the transition hard??
I am contemplating taking an extended leave of absence from my workplace (for 2 years) and becoming a full time Stay at home mum. I have 2yo twin boys and am 16 weeks pregnant.
I am having mixed feeling about it. I always enjoy going to work and also enjoy time with my boys. I guess it is my break time.

Anyone had these feeling??
Did anyone regret their decision??
Any help would be good.

i dont mean all of them but she is just so messy i was thinking of throwing away all the toys she has not played with in a while, obviously xmas is just aroundthe corner so she will be getting more her room is like a toy shop seriously she has 5 toy baskets full, three shelves of teddys and two boxes under her bed.
I cant cope with the mess, i have nowhere to store toys she isnt using until a later date so i was going to bag the toys up and take them to the charity shop.
if you think this is a good idea how many toys should i leave her with? (she will be 4 in a month)

I am tired of getting the run around when it comes to finding affordable housing with my limited finaces, and I wanted to know if there really is a place that will help? Without being placed on a waiting list or never getting a response at all.

she has strange behaviors like handflapping humming a lot and not wanting her hands to be touched. she is 13 1/2 months old and has had horrible reactions to all her shots including a temperature so bad we had to go to the emergency room. (that is the night the humming started)...other than all that she is wonderful!! I don't want to chance it...should i go to a neurologist? should i not get the vaccines?

the father of my 5 year old is an absolute nutcase!! we have joint custody of her and today is his day to have her. I dropped her off at school at 8am and then went home to sleep since i work nites (every Tues,Wed-same schedule for 3 years). My daughter ended up getting sick around 10am. she was throwing up so the school called both me and her dad b/c they couldn't remember which one of us had her today. 10 mins after the school called me, my ex called telling me I had to go pick up my daughter b/c his obligation to her didn't start until 3:30p when she normally gets out of school!! My ringer on my cell is always shut off when I sleep b/c I know it's not my day to have any of my kids. when I wouldn't call him back-he called the school that my other 2 daughters attend and my boyfriend's sister works at and asked for my boyfriend's sister!! he told the receptionist that I lived with my boyfriend and he needed to talk to the sister b/c my daughter was sick and he needed to get ahold of me

About two years ago I met a man that I'm now married to now. He has to continue living in Chicago due to his two small children from a previous marriage. I decided it would be best for me to be the one to move from Florida since my children are adults. My son has sinced moved up to Chicago to go to college. So it helps to have one of my children with me. But...My daughter who I use to go places with practically every day is still in Florida. And she says she doesn't want to move because it's too cold here. I feel like a bad mother for leaving her behind, and not only that I don't think I can live the rest of my life so far from her. We only see each other maybe every six months. And then it's only for a few days, because financially that's all we can afford. My heart is breaking at not being able to be with her. I ask other people if they would consider living so far from their kids, and they immediately say there is no way they could. I feel so horrible..I just don't know what to do.
