I have absolutely no problem with mothers breastfeeding their infants in public.
I have two young sons, and I do appreciate when discretion is used, though. Whether it's right or not, in today's world (at least within the United States), breasts are sexualized by the general public a lot more than they are thought of as the method a baby uses to feed. So yes, I do feel more comfortable being around (or having my kids around) when a mother is breastfeeding and finds some way of not just completely unbuttoning her blouse exposing her breasts to everyone.
I wouldn't say anything to a woman who DIDN'T do that, though, and I don't think I allow myself to throw dirty looks or anything, because it is just a preference.

First, who or what are you feeding? I am guessing you are talking breast feeding. Yes? Unfortunately, in the USA, many people find the natural act of breast feeding in public places offensive. I do not. Changing rooms/restrooms are not hygienic. Some women, my daughter-in-law included, have taken the baby to the car or a more secluded part of the shopping center. Be sure to wear a nursing bra and a shirt with easy access (button down). Bring a receiving blanket to cover a little as you nurse. Modesty is the key.
For a country that has no problem with women wearing thongs and pouring out of their shirts, there seems to be an issue with breast feeding in public. I'm sorry. Just be prepared when you go out. OK?

I just sit down anywhere that's comfortable, and pull my breast out and feed my baby. My baby's need to eat supersede other people's comfort or lack thereof. If you want to use a blanket, that's your choice, I do recommend against it though because there is an increased chance of SIDS, unless it is very very thin. There are slings and baby wraps you can use to carry your infant and nurse discreetly.
For the record, I don't believe you should have to nurse discreetly. When people get offended over breastfeeding, they will do so whether you are covered or not, because it is the act itself that offends them. Be firm, and don't take BS from anyone. It's your baby's birthright to get breastmilk. People have eyelids and necks. They can look away if they don't like it.

tell me about it! Some of those baby change rooms stink and although they are clean enough I just can't stand staying in there longer than 5 mins!
I used to just sit in a quiet spot having a coffee or on a bench somewhere and drape a wrap/blanket over my shoulder and baby to be discreet and fed baby there. I didn't worry about where it was as long as it was quiet and shaded.
Who cares what otherpeople think, feed wherever you like whenever you like. Its your right!

I nursed my children in public with no problems whatsoever. Keep a scarf or something handy to drape across for a little privacy, but otherwise keep in mind that nursing a baby is the most natural thing in the world.

You should have the right to feed your baby where and when you need to. Just do it discreetly and it shouldn't be a problem.
