The top 2 for me were: "How can you have nothing to wear? Your closet is FULL of clothes!" and "Why? Because I SAID so, that's why!"

oh! I like this question!

1. Because I say so, that's why!
2. As long as you live under my roof you'll live under my rules!
3. I don't want you to be a teen mommy
4. I don't like that BF of yours
5. Wait until you have your own children
6. You have nothing to wear, poor thing, let's ask the neighbor's if they can give us some clothes they no longer need.
7. Be grateful you have something to eat.

I'm sure there's more.

My mom use to aways say: "Make your bed so the house looks nice. You never know who's going to see it and what their impression of it will do to you."

And I'd roll my eyes and go, "Why?? I'm only going to unmake it to sleep in it. Besides, who's going to see my room but me?

When I had my old house up for sale a while ago, my realtor kept telling me about this family from England who was VERY interested in my house and wanted to buy it. We had already bought my current and house and desperately needed to sell this one. The realtor called at 8am on a Saturday to tell me the family was here and wanted to see my house NOW. So I rushed out of the house, grabbing all my kids and headed to the park without cleaning up or straighting anything out. The family came and went and at around 1pm the realtor called. I said "What did they think of the house?" and she said "Well...the mother... had a hard time picturing how big the bedrooms actually were...even with the measurements ...with your beds unmade..." ...
My beds will forever, even right before the world comes to an end...always be made.

"Gain some weight, you're too skinny."
As the middle child I am the smallest and most people confuse me to be the youngest just because of my size. No matter how much I try I just don't gain much because my metabolism is high.

"Why are you so nice? You know people take advantage of you more that way!"
Yeah growing up I was way too nice, soft spoken and people did take advantage of me, even my cousins.

Well, my mom probably said a lot of things but the saying I remember most was my dad saying 'Do you want me to give you something to cry about?' when I was crying about stupid things or throwing a fit. That made me shut my trap. Haha! He was and always will be one of the most loving men I know--seriously. Now that I have a child, I find myself telling him that. It's something he never said with force but we knew that he would give us something to cry about. He'd only say it when we were throwing a fit--please people remember that!

Common phrases from my mom were: "I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it!" , "Why did I ever decide to have kids?!?!" "Where's your socks?" ( I have always hated wearing socks in the house and to this day I still don't do it - it's just blech, I don't know, makes your feet feel wierd). "Go to your room" "Children are to be seen and not heard".

There was never a day growing up when i didn't hear my mother say, "Pasquale Vincenzo Rizzionni, I did not raise you to_______ that way." The blank could be almost anything.
