Hold him. He's just a baby, and apparently he needs you a bit more than usual right now. You might try a sling to give your arms a break.

Maybe he feels as if he don't get enough attention. I heard that little boys were alot more clingy to their moms. Sit in the floor and play with him until he finds a toy that he is interested in. Get every toy in the house and put him in the middle of them and show him how to play. He will come around

I have mixed reviews on this. I understand how aggrevating it is , but now I have a 7 yr. old that doesn't want me to hold him or love up on him (unless he's sick). I miss being able to just hold him. Maybe you can turn the tables on him. Sometimes a little reverse psycology works. Don't let him down when he wants. He wants you to hold him on his own terms but I imagine when he wants to do something he will get down. Well don't let him. Make him think that he can't have something b/c you want him all to yourself and see if his tune changes. He will want to get down so bad that he will start to pitch a fit for you not to hold him.

Youre going to have to get over the feeling bad and realize you're doing whats best for him. He's only crying because its working. Eventually he'll realize its not working anymore, and go play.
My 10 month old goes through this for a few days after we have a day of me holding him because we're out doing stuff or Iam doing work with him on my hip.
Its normal. Keep him where you are, offer him toys, show him a fun show on tv, my son LOVES sesame street, talk to him, and let him fuss until he gets over it.

The only way to break him of this is to LET HIM CRY it doesn't matter if it takes 2 hours eventually he will see that your not giving in and stop crying the reason that this has failed up til now is because he knows that if he cries long enough you will give in so don't!

The kid has now been able to understand that if he cries, you will take care. So better when he cries try to distract his attention to some other object and let him gradually get rid of his old habit
