Is it sometimes ok to spank if you dont lose your temper and dont use it for everthing? If your child does something to harm themselves or another child should you spank? if time outs havent worked for over 6 months?

My son has always been a handful and I will admit it has been our fault. I had him at 18 yrs. old and had no clue what I was doing. I use to give in to him when he was younger just so he wouldn't cry. Well, now I have got a good grip on different parenting skills and have worked really hard at setting boundaries and enforcing consequences consistently. I am also sure to point on the positive and praise him. However, my son has some other issues to deal with and I'm not sure if some of these new behaviors are related and I don't know what consequences are the most effective. He has been diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome and so he has some vocal and motor tics...basically eye blinks and clears his throat constantly. He also has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and ADHD. Well, he has been so mouthy and argumentative...wants to have the last word. He is rude and disrespectful to authority. I've spanked, grounded and taken priveledges and still no desired results...please help us!

When I was a kid, my mother hated Kiss, Ozzy, Alice Cooper, etc. I thought, what's the big deal? Now, I'm the parent and the artists my teenage daughter listens to drop F bombs and avoid using enuendos. They come right out and say what they mean. When I was 11, and Kiss sang about a Love Gun, I wasn't aware what the love gun was at the time. Today, these artists don't do that. If they talk about the love gun, they call it what it is. When did I become my parents?

that haven't been born yet, but when someone murders a pregnant woman, he's charged with 2 murders? what? i thought the babies didn't count, they aren't humans yet, so why 2 murders. the conclusion i've come to is this, if the parents want the un-born baby, then it's murder, but if they don't want it, it's OK. there is something wrong with that picture.can someone explain this to me, please?

My 7 year old son and my soon to be ex's 7 year old daughter (they are 3 weeks apart) both got a hold of spray paint and decided to spray paint bits and peices of an old truck in our yard, well, My boyfriend was out raged I ended up spanking my 7 year old on the butt and put him to bed at 8:00pm for punishment, My step daughter got absolutly no punishment for her part and even got to stay the night with her cousin, my boyfriend said but she is just a little girl, Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture?

Im a 23 year old single female with no children. I have recently been diagnosed with a blocked fallopian tube. I have always wanted children. The doctors keep stepping around the question when I ask them if I can still have children. So, unfortunatly, I turned to the internet for answers, and it doenst look good. Apparantly, if one is messed up, the the other one probably is too, giving me about a 10% chance. Im an only child, and the thought of not being able to give my parents grandchildren is just unbearable. So basically, I really need to hear some positive personal experiences with situations like this. Anyone been told they couldnt have children for reasons like this and had them anyway? I would love to hear some. All of these stupid doctors have avoided the issue because they believe a 23 year old unmarried woman has no business thinking about children. The curse of the bible belt I guess. So, anyway, please just give me some good news for once, cuz i feel pretty hopeless.

He only comes to stay with us for the summer and he constantly talks back. I don't know if he does this at home to his mother, but he does it to me. I tell him not to talk back to me and then he tries to get all snippy with me. So I punish him by taking away what he talked back about, but that has so far not helped. He has even lied to me about not doing something he got in trouble for. Even though I saw him do it which is why he's getting punished. I give him every chance to not do what he does. I have no idea if this is attention getting behavior or he has been taught by his mother that its ok to talk back to grownups.

I have a 16-year-old son who fishes in a lot of bass fishing tournaments. He is looking forward to one in June that is going to be about 4 hours from where we live, so we would be going and spending 2 nights, which we have done before and it works out fine. However, at this point, THE MONEY IS JUST NOT THERE. We COULD go, but we would have absolutely no money for ANYTHING else until sometime in July--and I mean we probably wouldn't even be able to get groceries for a couple of weeks. I can't stand to not have any "padding" for emergencies.

I'm sitting here at work struggling not to cry because I'll probably have to tell him he can't fish in that tournament, which is a "state championship" and it means a LOT to him. But what am I supposed to freaking do?? Rob a bank??

I guess my question to you is, should I just go ahead and sacrifice whatever I need to sacrifice so that he can fish in this tournament, or will he just have to be mature enough to understand my predicament??

Okay so I was so worried something was wrong with my pregnancy because there were lots of tests for my HCG turns out I am having twins and everything looks good so far. I am very excited but overwhelmed. One of my concerns is the cost of raising two newborn babies. My boyfriend just started working as a teacher and I have not finished school so finances are a bit tight. I was just wondering if any parents had tipos or money saving advice.

I'm a working mom (married, hubby works too) and my 19 month old daughter goes to daycare Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. I feel really bad and guilty and am really worried about her because she is so far behing other kids her age. Granted, all of my friends who have kids my daughter's age are stay at home moms (bless their hearts, I love all of my friends!), and they are able to teach their kids during the day, but I mean, it's really bad. My daughter only says "Daddy" (still hasn't said mommy - ouch!), "Ashee" (which is the name of our cat and she calls anything with 4 legs this also), "ball", "pretty" "book", "shoe" and "see". All of the other kids her age put words together to try to make sentences, can point to colors (which mine has no clue), know baby sign language, can tell their moms what they want, and are starting to potty train. After I get off of work at 5 p.m., I come home, cook supper, wash dishes, clean, do yard work, laundry and (see below)

Is La Leche League such a support for b-feeding moms or is it an arrogant organization? Some people within the organization think their @#!$ don't stink. I b-fed all 3 of my kids for a year, but I don't think it's appropriate to feel superior or act superior to other people. The breast is not for everyone-and it can make you harbor resentment towards your children (post-partum depression) if you don't enjoy it. That happened to me with the 2nd one. If you are only doing it to feel better than the next person you're doing it for the wrong reasons. La Leche League has stifled a few people I know, and they have the unfortunate reputation of being nursing nazis. In my opinion, the organization is not supportive of those who choose to breastfeed.

I know that it would obviously feel terrible.

But, what I mean is how would you react, would you listen to the kidnappers and follow there every command to get you Kids back or would you call the police regardless of what the kidnappers say.

Would you kill the kidnappers if you had the chance ? (even if it was friends or family), or would you forgive them?

Would you treat your kids differently if you get them back, like be very protective to an extreme point?

Would you feel any differently if a son or a daughter was kidnapped?

I also heard that the youngest child is usually the favorite, so does that mean the youngest child, if kidnapped would be much worst for the parents?

Any extra info you want to mention would be good. It's an interesting topic.

The reason I'm asking is not because am a weirdo who will kidnap a kid or anything, am only asking because I just saw a movie about this, so it's kinda interesting. I'm thinking of being a cop too so it's simple curiosity.

Is everyone as freaked out as I am? I know things can get tough being a mom and probably really tough as a single mom, but how can things get so bad that you would physically hang all your children in a closet and then yourself when you have family right across the street? Thank goodness for at least one child surviving! I think everyone should pray for moms every day!!! May they all rest in peace. How SAD!!!!!!

I know that this may sound a little concited, but I have the cutest baby. Every where we go people always make comments on how cute he is, and how he looks like a Gerber baby. I was just wondering does anyone know how I can get him started in commercials or print work? Any feed back would be good.

Thanks in advance for your help....
