She's 4, they all are at that age. It is part of her development and is a good thing. She has discovered that she is a complete human being with a will and desires of her own. It is time to adjust your point of view: instead of thinking of her as a baby to be protected and taught to be obedient, think of her as a woman-in-training and teach her to be smart, thoughtful, SELF-disciplined, and intelligent, a good adult, not a good kid. Help her learn to negotiate, offer her choices and responsibilities (but don't offer a choice when there isn't one, the booster seat in the car is non-negotiable etc). Help her age with grace and the stubbornness will fade into self-confidence and you will find that stubborn little girl becomes a truly wonderful young woman.

you have to give your daughter somethings that she can have control over. Like which spoon she eats with, or which hair bow she wears. simple little things that she feels she has some control over. If she feels she has some control ( which is what she is doing when she is being stubborn, trying to control which in normal for a child her age) then she will give in with other things. All your daughter is doing is growing up and trying to take a little bit of control of her little life so let her control the small stuff and she wont be so stubborn with the big stuff. It wont happen over night, but i guarantee you she will not be so stubborn if you give her some control over her daily decisions. Small stuff like you know cookies or crackers for a snack or blue or red tooth brush. I think you get the gist of what i am saying. like pants or short or a dress. let her decide. she just wants a little control. so give it to her and she will be a lot happier and so will you. . as you let her make some of her own decisions she will become self confident and a self confident woman is a happy person.
