Im a 23 year old single female with no children. I have recently been diagnosed with a blocked fallopian tube. I have always wanted children. The doctors keep stepping around the question when I ask them if I can still have children. So, unfortunatly, I turned to the internet for answers, and it doenst look good. Apparantly, if one is messed up, the the other one probably is too, giving me about a 10% chance. Im an only child, and the thought of not being able to give my parents grandchildren is just unbearable. So basically, I really need to hear some positive personal experiences with situations like this. Anyone been told they couldnt have children for reasons like this and had them anyway? I would love to hear some. All of these stupid doctors have avoided the issue because they believe a 23 year old unmarried woman has no business thinking about children. The curse of the bible belt I guess. So, anyway, please just give me some good news for once, cuz i feel pretty hopeless.

I know this wont help much, but my brother was told when he was young that he would likely never have children because he had a vericose vein in his scrotum or something like that...he and his wife now have 3 children and got a vasectomy so they wouldnt have anymore....keep your hopes up and go see another doctor of a fertility specialist..im sure there are other ways like invitro.....

good luck!

Doctors can guess and they aren't always right. My daughter married a guy with one testicle and she had no periods.. there daughter is 11 years old now, so much for professionals. A friend adopted 2 children from Korea because they told her she could not have children, a few years later she was giving birth to son.
If you are destined to have children it will happen whether you conceive and bear or adopt the path will be made clear to you, never ever give up hope.

not quite the same but my my cousin has got really bad scar tissue on her uterus/womb due to cysts, she had multiple miscarriages as they said the scared tissue was preventing the egg from being able to attach itself correctly and they said she would never carry a baby normally and that IVF could possibly work but not very likely, she had IVF 3 times, got pregnant on the last 2 times but did not carry the babies for longer than 8 weeks, she got to 28years old and decided she would not have the IVF again (it was making her really sick) and just have to try and accept that she would not have children, she then fell pregnant naturally after giving up all hope and against what all the profesionals had said, she's now nearly 30 weeks and everything going fine, we can not believe it!

also my partners cousin could not get pregnant (im not sure why but i know she was also trying for years, had multiple IVF treatments that were not successful and had given up hope at 33) at 35 she also got pregnant naturally and now has a 2 year old daughter, she had also been told that her only chance would be with IVF

anything is possible, keep the faith

My mother was told that she couldn't have anymore children because her uterus was tipped almost horizontal. I fixed that up. She was also forty-two when I was born so I really was a surprise.

I worked with woman who lost a fallopian tube due to an ectopic pregnancy. She went on to have two beautiful children.

It may be possible that you might need assistance later in life when you are ready to have children. But I believe that all things are possible. They are improving ivf all the time and many insurances now pay for it. And who knows, you might not even need intervention.

I would think that even if the fallopian tube is blocked, that you still could be artifically inseminated. Never give up hope though- 10% chance is better than none. Hopefully when the time is right for you to become a mom, you will have a supportive partner and will be able to come to a decision that will work for both of you. Good luck and never lose hope.

Have you talked to them about in-vitro fertilization? If it's just the tubes that have problems, and the womb is fine, you just need a little help.

Maybe instead of a regular doctor you should be talking with a fertility clinic. They're more about options.

Don't give up. There are so many possibilities out there.

Please don't feel hopeless. I wish I had some experience with blocked fallopian tubes to share, but I don't. But I can tell you, though, that it's amazing what medicine can do; and that, over time, things have a way of working themselves out. And, if it turns out you can't bare children, you can adopt - what a beautiful gift you will be able to give to some unfortunate child!

Never give up hope. The human body is a miracle and so is conception and the birth of a child.

Also...don't believe everything a Dr. tells you. Yes, they are medical professionals, but they make mistakes too.

By the way...did you know that latin meaning for the word "diagnose" is "to guess"? :o)

Anyway...I would get a second opinion. And never never never give up hope!

Doctors told me after a surgery that I had too much scar tissue and damage to have children. They said that even if I could it would be difficult. 2 months later I was pregnant without even trying. Now I have 3 beautiful children!

10% chance is a lot more than none, you could still have a child.

Adoption is something else you can do though if you end up not being able to have kids. There are many kids who need homes, so that is a good alternative.

I hope you are lucky and you are able to have a baby with that chance though.
