she's 6 almost 7, i dont really know is it me being a bad mother or what. she has never lied, and once she started going to school and with her friends she started lying. i would ask her something i knew that she did do, and she would lie about it, until i yell at her. now just today, she took some of my money, without even asking, she really cant tell what $1 are like and $20, so she took five of my 20 dollar bills to school, and when i came home i found one left in her pocket. before her dad asked her and she said no, so i found it and got really mad, and we asked her to go to her friends house and get the money back since she gave it to her friends. i don't know what to do, i am so mad, and my husbands all like, well don't put your stuff there. what can i do to make her a better person?

My husband and I are trying to figure out a way we can live on just his income so I can be a stay at home mom with our first baby.

We cut out luxuries and once all our bills are paid, including groceries, car insurance, gas, etc. we will have $600 every month to put in savings.

My husband isn't sure if $600 a month is enough for emergencies or unexpected bills. Next year our two cars will be paid off and we will have $1200/month total in savings.

SAHMS, how much do you have to put in savings every month after you have paid all your expenses?

I inherited a fantastic collection of old children's literature from my mother, which I loved myself as a child. The collection includes British and American novels for kids from the turn of the century through 1960 or so. As an adult looking over the books now, though, I cringe over the casual racism I find. For example, the Adventure series by Enid Blyton was a favorite of mine as a kid - but when I look it over now, I see that whenever African-American characters are introduced, they are depicted in a horribly racist way. It wasn't the main object of the books, obviously - I guess it was just so a part of the culture at the time to depict minorities like that. As a child, I didn't pick up on it at all. So, my dilemma is: do I let my daughter read these books but talk to her about the racist aspects, read the books but ignore the racism, or weed out the offensive books and not let her read them at all? (She's only 6 - I'm just anticipating that she could read them someday).

Can anybody tell me how this child preparation could be done?secondly what are the subject areas I should encourage him most as far as school work and future academic activity is concerned?I count on your massive inputs! Thanks.

If you haven't ever been over in the other sections, it seems most of the questions from kids at school seem to be how do I circumvent the MySpace blocks the school administrators place on school computers, or they want people to do their homework and research for them, so they can copy and paste answers without looking like they plagerized Wikipedia.

It might be time to block Yahoo from school machines. Yahoo isn't at all necessary at school.

Heyyy there! i am ALMOST 18 & just got back from my doctors the other day for a basic physical. My weight was a modest 227... My waist was but a 46 inches, chest 44, i am 5'10. AND have a BP of 142/101 & my body fat % is 31!

It was about a YEAR or so ago when i decided that i wanted to GAIN weight not LOSE it! At the time i was around 161 lbs. & was quite thin. So i decided to "pack on the pounds" per say...

Now about a year, plenty of pounds, inches & marks later. i would like to know what to do? For the past few months or so i have not tried to gain any weight... Nor have i tried to lose any... I've pretty much stayed the same.

As i speak i wear a comfortable 38 jeans! i have a fair share of "sexy" stretchy marks on my love handles/hips & quite a few on my inner thighs too... i also struggle to come to terms w/ the fact i cant do ONE situp!

Anywaaay, any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank ya in advance,
~E!

(Honestly i got the urge to keep getting fatter)

I moved in with my boyfriend and his 6 y/o old son a few months ago. At first me and his son got along perfectly. That's probably because I was 'new', didn't know all the rules or him very well, and this is my first 'parenting' experience. Now, I know all the rules and enforce them as his father does. But his reactions are totally different with me.
When he goes to anyone's house, he walks all over the people. My boyfriend has told me that he's made numerous babysitters cry! I'm majoring in psychology and have learned a lot about children, so I don't let it get to me like that.
He has ADHD and went through hell from age 1-4 during custody battles and other things. If his dad sends him to the corner, he goes. If I send him, he jumps up and down and screams until his face turns purple. It takes him about 3 minutes to GET into the corner. He requires constant attention when I'm alone w/ him, but not when my boyfriend is with us. I know he's testing me.

I just read a comment someone made on here to a parent who gives there child medication for ADHD, the person called this parent lazy and that she is just finding an easy way out. I have a child with ADHD and let me tell you its difficult, I tried everything before putting him on medication and basically he was doing so bad in school and his behaivor was crazy. I now have him on Concerta and I give it to him for school and school only when he is home on weekends or on school vacation I do not give it to him. Now he is doing much better in school then before. I guess I am a lazy, finding the easy way out type of parent as some of these judgemental parents may put it but at the same time I want my child to get a good education and be able to concentrate in class. I just want to know what gives some of you not all the right to judge if your not in that situation and your child is suffering in school because of it????

12 year old son? I know he is hitting a hard time now. Puberty, girls, emotional changes... I want him to be good but I also want to hold him like my baby and tell him it will all be ok. He seems to be at a constant struggle with me and rules. I just don't know what to do.

My husband and I chose to cosleep with our newborn to make night nursings easier and get more rest. It was a wonderful arrangement, too, when our son was a little baby. Now our baby has become a 16 month old toddler and we'd like to have our bed back. He kicks us all night and takes up too much space. If I get him to sleep and put him in the crib, he'll wake up every hour. I need sleep to function so there's no way I'm running to the crib every hour all night long. By the way, I weaned him 3 months ago so he gets a lot of comfort at night now by cuddling me. What can I do? I feel awful if I let him cry.

So, I had a meeting with my son's school the other day, and his teacher thinks he should skip a grade. I know that he is smart enough to handle 4th grade, but emotionally I think it could seriously do damage. He has mild ADHD and ODD, and is in therapy for behavioural issues. I know most of the trouble at school comes out of sheer boredom, but his impulsive behavoiur makes it hard for him to make freinds and I think taking him away from the few he already has would be a bad idea. Any thought or experiance?

As far as the kids are concerned. I talk to other mom's outside of dance class and preschool and often times they mention that their husband won't allow something or other. There is one mom who is trying to convince her husband to sign their daughter up for preschool but he doesn't think it's neccesarry and another mom or actually she is a grandma but the main caretaker for this girl whose husband thinks it is to early to get the girl a bike. Just litlle stuff like this and all i can say to them is sometimes men need to be told what to do. They just look at me funny. Is this a foreign concept or is it just me.

I have read alot of the answers people give when mothers speak about spanking their children
I dont think of spanking as a bad form of punishment, My mother wasn't afraid to pinken up my butt when I was bad and I have nothing but love and respect for her. She let her Yes mean yes and her no mean no. I learned real quickly if My mom said no we had better not argue or we had a tanning coming. So Like I said before I love my mother she spanked us and we still respect her for it today, she is my best friend. I just want to know why people get critisized for spanking?

My husband and I are filling out paperwork for enrollment for life insurance policies, and will be making out a will.

I have two small children, and we feel strongly that we do not want them to be raised by grandparents, in the unfortunate event that we both met with tragedy.

I have two sisters, who both have two children of their own. One, in particular, we would feel okay about having raise our children if we were unable to, she and her husband are responsible to the extreme, and my kids are very familiar with them.

We also have a couple that we're friends with, and we feel as though if our children went to them, they would be raised as closely to the way we'd raise them ourselves as they possibly could. Trouble is, they live far away and don't know much about either of our families, and we want family to be a part of their lives.

We're not going to make this decision based on answers here, but if anyone has suggestions on choosing and asking, I'd sure take 'em!

A lot of times, when I put my son in his highchair and give him food, he just throws it on the floor and laughs. I work hard to prepare him nutritious meals and I want it to go into his tummy. I also don't like having to mop the floor 3 times a day. What do other parents do? The only food he doesn't throw is McDonald's french fries, but a person can't live on french fries. He refuses to be spoonfed and since he's 16 months old, I can't easily explain to him the valid reasons he should eat food rather than throw it.
