i think its wrong to turn the kids loose before they are ready. but if the kid is not doing anything such as school or working and is only laying around i would give them a time frame to get their act together or move

Depends on a lot of things. Just by the way you phrased that I would guess there is something not right with the relationship between you and your child. I think that might be more important to look at. The relationship goes on forever- the living situation is temporary. Did you do your best to raise your child into an adult? Can they fend for themselves? It wouldn't be "right" to shelter a child from the real world and "kick" them out at 18 just because you are fed up with them. Being a parent is a job, it doesn't magically stop at 18. If your child is not obeying house rules at 18- they are in effect choosing to leave. Maybe that might be a better approach.

I think that is up to the individual parent, but personally I believe your children should leave home when they are ready, if you have done a good job then your kids should be ready when they are 18! Don't see it as kicking them out, see it as supporting them through the integration from living at home to living on their own or with others. You are still a parent even when your kids are 50! Good luck.

NO! i don't think its right to kick a child out when they are 18! they should have some kind of way to support themselves and not have to struggle to do so! I thinks its cruel as a parent to just kick out their kids! if they are good kids and follow by the rules then they should stay! and another i don't get is why do some parents make their kids pay rent! its dumb!

Unless the child can support themselves and is ready for the real world no it is not okay. Your job as a parent doesn't end at 18, it's your job to make sure they are ready for the world outside and are responsible adults. Most 18 year olds can not support themselves.

Parenting is a lifetime commitment, it does not end at the child's 18th birthday. I think its irresponsible and selfish, on the parents part, to kick their child out at 18. Due to the type of society we live in, at 18 year old is usually far from self supporting. I know I wouldn't want my child living in a unsafe environment or on the street, just because I want my "house to myself" again.

no. it's not. 18 year olds are usually just coming out of high school. they work minimum wage jobs because of their lack of higher educatiion, and they have few options to support themselves as a result. if they are kicked out the second they become a legal adult, they will not try to go to college or establish any goals.

i am not saying they should live with their parents for the rest of their lives or even into their later 20's, but they need to be ready before they leave.

i think it depends on the circumstances. if the kid is still in school then definitely no. but i do blieve that once that child turns eighteen and decides not to continue their education then they should either start contributing finacially to help out mom and /or dad,b/c they shouldn't think they can be a lazy bum and have free room and board for the rest of their lives. life doesn't work like that. when you b/come and adult or want to be treated as one then you have to learn responsibility and become an upstanding citizen.

You are still the parent even when they aturn 18. This all depends on the situation, are they still in High School. Then let them stay. Are they working to make money for college. Let them stay. Bummin around eating your food. Kick em out!! This all depends on your sistuation here.

I moved out of my dads when i was 19 teen but i moved out with my boyfriend which i'm still with after 10 yrs. Personal i wouldn't kick my kids out but they would have to work and provide for there own stuff and help out around the house and you could make them pay rent. Or let them save up till they could afford there own place.
