Actually, if the child specifcally says to the doctor that they do not want their parents informed the doctor cannot say anything. It is the law.
In Canada, at 14 you can consent to your own medical things, you control your medical decisions from age 14. It is good, then parents do not have to know everything. The US has it wrong, waiting til the kids are 18 to consent.

the only procedures a doc should perform on a minor without the parents permission is in the event of a life threatening situation, or maybe a nasty cut or scrap can be cleaned and bandaged. but thats it!!

ASHLEY,
AS LONG AS THE CHILD IS A MINOR, UNDER 18, THEN THE PARENTS/CARETAKERS ARE ALWAYS LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE AND MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS NEED THEIR CONSENT.
