When a child hits 2-3 years of age, they drop Tryptophan 100g/day. In other words, their bodies reducing producing Tryptophan by 100 g/day. This occurs at about 12-13 years of age as well. Tryptophan is an amino acid that plays a big role in bonding with the parents, and in having them feel happy. The terrible 2's and the teens both have significant drops in Tryptophan as well as a variety of other amino acids. To reduce the fluctuation in behavior, give them foods that contain a good amount of Tryptophan, like bananas, potatoes, turkey, pumpkin seeds, and fish.

3 Year Old Mood Swings

Yes it is normal. Different kids do these things at different levels. Some worst than others. What is going on is that they are growing and developing. They are starting to understand certain tings but are not yet fully mature to handle everything. For example, an adult might find herself, in a tough cituation like solving a puzzle or making a machine work. The adult would get frustrated but will try to find a way to make the darn ting work. If not at least find someone to help out. A 3 year old also tries to fix themachine but a 3 year old cannot handle the frustration. However, it doesn't stop there. When a 3 year old gets frustrated they don't know what is going on so now they get frustrated at them being frustrated.

The tings that will frustrate kids the most is the word "NO". They justunderstand that. For example, you would not let your 3 year old play with big kids cissors. You as an adult would think that she could fall and stab herself, loose an eye or anything of the 1,000,00 bad things that can happen to ids so, you say "NO" to her. The kid doesn't understand the danger. All they see that you are being mean. So, they get frustrated because they don't want to be tld no. Same as us adults who don't like to be told "NO". So they throw a tamtrum because they don't know how to handle a citauation plus as kids they have zero control. Is not as if they have any bargaiing power.
Hope this helps clear some things.

That is typical of children at any age actually,. They are constantly going through changes at all times and getting use to there own growing bodies as well. Now also that fact that your daughter is 3 means that she is also still going through the terrible 2's as well. I believe that the terrible 2's does not mean that they are bad when they are 2, but rather for 2 years from about 1 1/2 to about 3 1/2. I can say that they do start to get better at about the age of 4 when they gain a little more Independence. One other thing, you must remain as patient as can be because they feed off of your emotions and if you show that this behavior bothers you it will get worse. I am mother of 3, one on the way, take it from me.

I have a 13 yr old grandson who has adhd and he didnt do very good in school either because he couldnt concertrate,he is on Concerta and making A's and B's,and acts like a normal boy.I know you dont want to take pills but it would do you good to take them atleast until you learn to take control; of your mood swings,he was diagnosed at 5 and now at 13 he doesnt have to take meds anymore cause he has learned to take control of his anger and doing better.

Yeah i think its normal but every child is different. You have to control the situation when the mood comes so that it will not continues to huge mood swings. i think you know your child well when to gives and takes with her.

Yes it's typical for them to try and act that way, but that does not mean you put up with it! Now is the time to be teaching her how to deal with her emotions and how to handle them properly! Now is the time for you to be teaching her she is not allowed to speak to you that way! No talking back! I've learned many techniques to use with children that really work, from watching thoes Nanny shows! Good luck getting her under control!
