I have a 5 month old daughter who is perfect. My life is great, my husband loves me, it really is quite picture perfect. I even took another month off work to be with my daughter for a bit. I have dropped almost all of my baby weight so I know it can't be that. But the problem is that I am just feeling "out of sorts." I feel like crying a lot during the day and I can't remember the last time I was super happy. I feel like I am just going through the motions a lot of the time. I am not unhappy with being a mother. In fact, I love it. But, I just feel very inadequate. I know I can care for her but am I a good mother? It's not enough for me to just be adequate. I am really moody with my husband and even he says that I have been irritable. It's not even all the time. It actually comes and goes. Some days are worse than others. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to jump the gun and say I have PPD, especially if it is unlikely.

My daughter is 20, but looks much younger, still has that "young look". She has gone through alot in her life, multiple surgeries for a heart problem (she has a pacemaker) and other medical problems. She also acts young for her age. How to I handle it when people make comments? Instead of just accepting it, they want to question me about it. I don't feel it is necessary to explain her medical condition to them. Thanks!

Should they be rationed?

The Obvious aside: that they are bad for the teeth.

Are there other negative factors, like what do colourings and other additives do?

Are they bad for children's appetites in general for nutritious savoury food?

I control their consumption as an occasional thing when sweets are passed our way, and personally prefer to give good quality chocolate or fruit with yoghurt or ice-cream. Am I a stick in the mud?

Now she isnt constipated. But does this mean she isnt eating right? I know she really doesnt eat right, She is a very picky eater. For snacks and stuff she will eat apple wedges or baby carrots or crackers or whatever, She isnt a fan of green veggies, well she wont eat them at all. So as far as fiber, she doesnt really get any. Do most kids poop little ball turds or is this somthing as far as eating is concerned?

Hi! Ok so I am adopting a girl that is 14 and was abused by both her parents sexuially, verbally, mentally, and physically. She eneded up in the hospital for 4 months because of the abuse and while she was there we found out she had cancer. Because of the abuse back at her old home she is very scared of people and clings to me a lot because I am the only person that she trusts. Well soon I will be able to take her home for a few days. Anyway eventually she will be able to go home for longer amounts of times. Well I was talking to her counselor and a few other people that work with her. We were talking about the future for her and I was thinking that it may be a god idea for me to quit my job or work from home and then home-school her for a year or 2 because she is just so afraid of people. Like today she is in isolation because she had major surgery yesterday and when she woke up I wasn't there and she thought I left her so she started crying and then she got so scared she started...

How do you think they are effected by it?

2007-05-24 06:48:07 · 22 answers · asked by AB 1

My family recently had a major financial upset. I lost my job, we lost our home and didn't have a stable place to stay. I am working diligently to reverse the effects of the upset by completing courses. I am nearly done and will start work again in September. My husband says it's turning me into a snob. I am hoping that my son sees if you work hard you can overcome disaster but there are times I look into his eyes and I see sadness. I know college is not a right, but I really want this M.A. so I won't have to rely on my husband and make the decisions I should have made before. Is this selfish? Or do you think my son will learn anything profitable from this? I'm looking for differing perspectives.

Im tring to potty trian my 2 year old son, but at the same time I don't like him to be stuck in the house. I usually like to take him to the park but i was told once i put him in underwear not to put him back in a diaper, and there are restrooms at parks and if there is they are dirty. Should I just keep him in the house or is there another way.

I need some advice. This is a very serious question for me. My daughters were burned in a house fire on 12/26/06. They were with the paternal grandparents and it was a bad environment. It's a long story about what happened to me. Now, they are with my family; and they need alot of medical & psychologial attention. However, they also back-talk and are occasionally defiant. I don't when they are just "being bad"....or it is because of their past traumas. We try to give them lots of love; and at times, we feel rejected by them. How can we effectively control their behavior?

The 60 year old giving birth to those twin boys raises (again) the question as to when a woman should stop considering giving birth even though we are staying healthier and living longer.

Isn't the real question: "How can a woman 75-80 years of age properly relate to and take care of teen-aged children she gave birth to 15-20 years before"?

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME...My Children need TOUGH love!?
I am absolutley beside myself. I have 4 boys: 14, 8, 8, 6. The 14 Year old is a good, respectful and loving young man, a little lazy at times, but definately improving with age. The one 8 Year old is my step son and is only here every other weekend. But the other 8 year old (has ADD and ODD-but is on a prescription and doing great) and the 6 year old are making me insane...all they do is fight, bicker, tattle, instegate and basically have no respect for each other. I have tried everything from Time-Out, Grounding, Positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, taking away privilages, spanking...I dont knowwhat else to do.

They had me so worked up this morning before school that I broke down and cried and it didn't even seem to phase them...if anyone has any thoughts or ideas I dont care how crazy they sound please, please help!

i know this is wrong, but i have explained to them over and over again that disrespecting each other is the same as disrespecting me and our home and if you cant respect each other you still need to repsect me and the rules of the house...the rules are very clear, no fighting...i'm almost ashamed to say this but i am so desperate that I have considered warning them that if they continue their behaviour they will have to go somewhere else until they learn to respect me, themselves and the rules...i was thinking if they started fighting aain tonight after school i would show a little tough love and....

maket hem pack up some of their things and tell them they need to go fight somewhere else and until they can learn to be loving and respectful to each other they are not allowed to come back...

I'm such a terrible parent, I just want to do something drastic that will make them see how serious i am...

My son fell asleep with a slice of jalapeno on his nipple, and when he woke up, it was burning something fierce. His sister is lactating, and I heard that milk is good for soothing spice, so I had her rub it on there for him, but then she got the jalapeno juice on her nipple and when she breastfed my grandson, it got in the baby's mouth and he threw up all the milk, which I put on my son's nipple, forgetting that it has that the milk vomit has jalapeno juice in it, and now we're right back where we started.

outcast with your group of friends? I am still the same person (except now my son comes before me). It seems I am now left out of the loop. I find out about things that all my friends do after the fact. For instance...one of my "best friends" (who also happens to be my family) is engaged, she cheats on her fiance & I find out from some one else. They said that she doesn't tell me anymore because I am in a loving relationship and would disapprove? WTF...never stopped her from telling me before. That is just one example. No one ever even calls to see if I would like to go to dinner or anything. I feel like no one ever wants to do anything with me anymore because I can't go out and party all the time. I guess I just don't understand why if they are my friends that they wouldn't go a little out of their way to include me every once in a while. My feelings are really hurt that I am always by myself. I haven't said anything yet because I don't know what to say or do! HELP!

why do many parents think drugs are all the same... except of course alcohol which they think is not a drug? Most drugs are very different as are the cultures that go with them, how they are used. How dangerous and additive it is for the user and those around. If there are benefits to the individual IF USED RIGHT or a society Example of postives would be the hippy movement leading to the civil rights and peace movements and all the creativity etc. Examples of bad culture could be gangster culture and crack. Whats likely to be tried by everyone ie alcohol and dope. What most grow out of. Whats a worry, whats not. What parents can do to help, what needs pro help and the fact alchol would be fairly high up in the bad effects categories. Why simply use the term drugs? Also it shows ignorance to kids so not taken seriously Like the boy who cried wolf show says has cookies are same as heroin. Kids sees thats not so thinks adult lier when says crack is bad as said dope = smack addict
