My daughter is 20, but looks much younger, still has that "young look". She has gone through alot in her life, multiple surgeries for a heart problem (she has a pacemaker) and other medical problems. She also acts young for her age. How to I handle it when people make comments? Instead of just accepting it, they want to question me about it. I don't feel it is necessary to explain her medical condition to them. Thanks!

Also, how should my daughter handle these comments?

Smile sweetly, say "Thank you! She certainly is blessed! Most women have surgery to look years younger. How lucky is she?" and then walk away. It's none of their business. If they push...set a boundary and say, "I really don't want to share that with you."

I'm about to turn 27, I still have acne. I get carded all the time. I was just told I looked 16. I just smile and say THANKS!

I am 20 myself and look 13 i just know when i am 40 i will still look young so i just laugh when people question my age. I've kinda made a game out of it i love when people find out i am married and pregnant thinking i am only 14 or 15. Now the questions about her medical condition, people are very curious and can be or seem rude. I have a brother that was born with hydrocephalus and can't walk or talk. He is 19 and his mind is like a 2 year old in some ways. I have always got questions.

I am 30 and get comments all the time that I look like I'm in my late teens or early twenties. I used to be offended when I was 20 and they said I looked like a teenager....but now it's a compliment (since I turned 30 in November).

I would suggest she just say thank you.......no one needs to know why she looks so young......nor do they need to know her life store about her medical problems.

Especially if she acts younger than her 20 years......

Congrats on having a young looking daughter.....she makes you look younger too!

i think of it extremely is pathetic how liberals are utilising this to their income. Did you pay attention the rumors that Palin's 2 month old infant replaced into certainly her 17 year old daughters? i think those rumors may well be dropped now! I heard a woman on television saying "How might desire to a girl who can no longer even administration her daughter, run the USA." i had to bounce in the television and slap her! How ignorant are you able to be? Barack Hussein Obama has so a lot extra crap that ought to be regarded into, yet I in no way see the media masking it! Or Biden? i've got no longer heard a notice approximately him and that i'm helpful he's have been given some skeletons... besides, i think of Palin may well be a super vice-president, no count if she has a sparkling grand-infant or no longer, and that i'm easily balloting for the McCain cost ticket.

I'm twenty and I can pass for 11 years old. It's horrible, I know.

Basically, your daughter shouldn't let it effect her any. She's gone through a lot and she can deal with a simple mistake. You have to realize that no one is intentionally making these remarks -- They don't KNOW how old she is. They're just assuming. If they ask for a children's menu for your daughter (I get this often), just smile politely and refuse.

They don't mean to be insulting.

As for you, you should just do the same. If people ask about your daughter, just say she's twenty but she looks young for her age. No harm done.

Good luck. :)

Can you please give me some examples of how she acts young for her age and what kind of comments do people make? But all in all, her reaction should be to ignore people since when shes 60, she will still look like a total babe... : )

I would just say, ya lucky her in 20 years she will still look good and walk off. She could say the same to people, or she could just say, ya I look young, people age really well in my family.

Just politely tell them you'd rather not discuss it. Example: "What's going on with your daughter's medical condition?" You say "I really don't feel like discussing it... let's talk about something else." Plain and simple... they should have the courtesy to drop it there.

Just accept her as she is. Tell others they need to do the same. If people can't handle her for who she is then that's their problem. Not yours or hers. You don't need to explain to them anything.

She is who she is. She's my beautiful daughter, thats all that matters, now if you'll excuse me.

If they ask HER why she looks so young she can just say "Hopefully i'll look 35 when Im 50"
