The 60 year old giving birth to those twin boys raises (again) the question as to when a woman should stop considering giving birth even though we are staying healthier and living longer.

Isn't the real question: "How can a woman 75-80 years of age properly relate to and take care of teen-aged children she gave birth to 15-20 years before"?

Since I had my first child at 18 and my second at 26, I definitely wouldn't want another at 60, but if I had never had children I might not feel that way. I also have to wonder about 75-80 year old parents dealing with teenagers. Just glad it's not me!

Well, I believe it is up to the woman and her husband when they should stop having children. I read the article about this lady on Yahoo yesterday and I think they said she also has a 6 year old son. She wanted to prove that she could still bear children as well as have a child close to her son's age. It would be harder to relate to children and teenagers at an age such as 60, but sometimes people are wiser and more patient.

Youth is about health and mindset. Some 30 year olds are too old to parent. Some 70 year olds are the best parent any teen ever had. It depends on the "RealAge" and the HEALTH and genetics of the mother and father. How long do women in her family live? Some families have relatives who are 100 and quick as a whip! Some families have 25 year olds who look and act like they're about to kick the bucket. With nutrition (folic acid, niacin, biotin, vitamin C, you get the picture) healthy babies can be born without everyone resorting to calling the parents selfish. My 70 year old Mom looks 48 and is in BETTER shape than most of her kids. But she stopped having them long ago. Risk increases with age, but MORESO with obesity, heart health, smoking, things like that.
Peace.

People should not be allowed to have children at this age. It is far too old to be having children, she will be a pensioner when the children start school and this is not fair on the children. I think the absolute max age for having children should be mid - late 40's!!!!!

These children will most likely be relied on heavily by the time they get to there early 20's and this is not fair on them

I personally would stop at the age of 40 just because the risks medically increase and I don't want to be almost 60 when my child is finally leaving the house.

I am 29 and I can tell you I am already tired with just one! I wouldn't be able to run after twins at 60. I would also miss not having more time on the planet with my kids. But that is just me personally. I don't think it is morally wrong to have kids that late- just wouldn't be well suited for me personally.

I wish people would just consider their age in relation to their children. People are living longer, but what about the quality of life? Having to deal with a parent's death is life altering, especially in adolescence.

I was thinking about that last night...I think people should consider the children...Is it really fair to them...their parents will not be able to do the things babies and children need or do...Lets also not forget a large number won't even live to watch there child grow...Is that fair to the child...I say NO...

How sad that the possibility of parents having greater health problems and risk not being there for the kids. At least we know these babies are really wanted.

I think that is a WAY too old of age to be giving birth. So many complications could've happened, she is lucky.
