I'm a SAHM and I work part-time. I was thinking of working full time when the kids go to school - but then again, not. If I don't work full time, I can get all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry done during the week and enjoy the weekends with my family.
Plus it's been shown that kids that have someone to come home to after school are less likely to commit crimes, have sex, drink and do drugs.

It's up to the woman and what works for her family. I have a 1 year old and I stay at home with my son, and we plan on having 1 or 2 more. I don't have the job experience to get a decent paying job that would be enough to even bother working. I would have to go to college if I wanted to work later. If my hubby's income is still enough later, then I will probably still be a SAHM, we'll see when the time comes. Plus kids get out of school before most people are done with work, and they need someone at home.

I believe that is up to the woman and her husband but don't forget that just because the kids start school doesn't mean they don't need mom. I work in the class for an hour each week and my son loves it. I am also available for field trips and when one of my kids gets sick no one has to fight over who will take the day off and stay with them.
I know that our family will always have a parent at home, my self or my husband. There is also the option of the dad staying home, if possible and desired, once the kids are older. Some families let dad stay home while mom goes back to work.

I am probably going to work part time 9 to 2 or 11 to 2 but I might just stay home and be a housewife.

That is entirely up to you!
It's a personal thing that each person has to consider. Can you afford to stay at home? Will you be able to find a job that has flexible finishing/starting times so you can get the kids from school.
Would you be bored at home? Or perhaps stressed from working & missing your kids?
It's hard isn't it?!! Lots to consider when you have kids isn't there! I know I like the mental stimulation of being at work and making a contribution to our finances and the world. My brain hasn't completely stopped yet and I want to keep using it! I know for me, if I stayed home too long it will be much harder to get a decent job in the field I previously worked in. And I definitely did not want to stay at home forever.

This is a pretty neat question. Anyways, I'm a mom, but I dont' stay home, I work. But, we're working on making it so that I can stay home with our daughter (she's 1). As for going back to work, when I do get to stay home, I plan on staying home full time until our youngest starts school (we want to have three kids), and then I would go back to school for my teaching degree (I already have about 2 years of it done), and then after I get my degree, I plan on just subsitute teaching locally. That way I'll make a little extra cash, but won't be committed to a full time job if my kids need me and I'll still be able to get things around the house done (which is a full time job in itself - fwew!), and then when our kids graduate, I'll start teaching elementary school full time. That's the plan anyways, and God willing, it'll happen that way... lol. I hope this helped!

Well, if you can find enough to do while your kids are in school and you can afford to stay home, why not? I always thought I would do that, but I am back to work full-time (kind of because I'm getting divorced and had to do so), but now that I'm used to working full-time and caring for my children, I can't imagine not working! LOL It's totally up to you...do what makes you feel comfortable.

That is no one's business by the SAHM, and depends on what she is happiest doing.
If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
If she likes being home, her work there benefits the family greatly. If she feels a desire to have a life outside the home, her happiness and fulfillment will benefit the family greatly.

depends on the mom. i'm a stay at home mom right now with a 1 year old and i'm also 6 months pregnant with my second. i personally know that when my children start school i'd like to go back to work and school as well. for me, being a stay at home mom forever is not my cup of tea.

This depends on how badly you want to work outside the home. I think an adult needs the stimulation of outside work and there are many after-school programs for children. Maybe, if you really want to go to work, you could find a part-time job while the children are in school or you could work on line at home.
