Most of them get away with murder...most need a wallop to the butt. They are more disrespectful. I think with everybody having input on the way others discipline their children has had a negative effect on the way the kids are turning out today...lift your hand to your child after they have been foul to you and they threaten you with calling the police. I would never as a child!! I would have been picking up my teeth!! It is only going to get worse so long as all these rich, celebrities and big wigs instigate and instill their beliefs on how kids shouldn't be spanked or yelled at etc...

I think today's kids act and behave pretty much the same way that I did, and others did, when we were kids. People seemed to get pretty upset with our behavior in those days too, and that was quite a few years ago. However, I think that there is more BS being directed at kids today by TV and the rest of the entertainment world - giving kids a hard act to "live up to", and too many "life styles" to choose from. But I think its too bad that so many kids today are overweight.

I have 3 raised 2 to adulthood, one is 14, as well as ran a daycare for 15 years, and I love them!!
I feel sorry for today's youth because the exposure to sexuality and drug information and allot of the things we were sheltered from is readily available to them through media. They have to worry about lots of things we never had to nowadays like... someone shooting up their school, other random gun violence, gangs and the like 911...major...Tsunamis
I blame the government for allot of the negative we see now, because it wants to be the authority and dictate how we raise our kids. It's forced both parents to work, or... lack substantially the ability to pay for recreation, vacations and other activities, you know the little XTRAS that enhance a child's life.
I feel the teens get a BUM RAP just for being teens because of some bad apples. Some adults fear them just because they are teens. I have witnessed it myself.. snarling and looking at them all crazy... it's sad.
Me I love em.. I raised well balanced, productive kids. I kept them focused, involved heavily in athletics, and encouraged them with their dreams. I was willing to give up some monetary so that I could be available for them, and not rely on someone else to raise them with THEIR standard.
I wouldn't trade my 1960's-80's child and teen years for anything, way more laid back, far less worries, than the kids have today... well society as a whole has .... but that's a whole diff story.
Well there's my novel LOL.... take care!

I think kids today need the same basic necessities of life as they did years ago. But it has changed dramatically mostly because of technology. Kids probably spend more time with their friends now than before. More parents both work full-time than before so kids rely on other things to entertain themselves with more T.V., computers, games etc. That means less family time and sit down dinners. They just go with what they know.

the majority of kids i come into contact with are young, preschool age and grade school age, most of them seem polite and well mannered. There is a bullying issue at my daughters school, but that really is nothing new, bullying has gone on since the beginning of time. When i worked at the high school the teenagers i saw, for the most part were also well mannered and polite, but there are always those few that ruin it for everyone, and unfortunately they are the ones that stick out.

I have a teenager and he and his friends are always polite and friendly. Just the other day we were at the dr and he jumped up to hold the door for an elderly lady. She looked at me and said "I keep hearing about young ppl today being bad but every time I go out they are SO polite"!
I'm not saying all teens are like this but alot are, enough to make the difference I think.

I'm 13, and yeah, we are brats. Especialy the kids that think they're all hardcore and "Emo" even though they grow up in suburbia BUT they have to do chores and get good grades or else they can't go out! LIFE IS SOOO UNFAIR!!!

I think the main thing "wrong with kids today" is many have parents who are neglectful, selfish, and not there for them.

(p.s. I'm a parent)

I absolutely love kids. They are no different today than in the past. Those who think they are terrible forget some of the dumb things kids did in our generation.
