If another person's child was out of control, would you step in and discipline him? Or look the other way? Some feel it's not their right to intervene, while others believe it is sometimes necessary to reprimand an unruly child. What do you think?

How much money do you spend on your children at christmas. And how much do you think is enough. I normally go way over the top when i shouldnt. This year ive decided that i'll spend £250 on each child.

To see these parents lugging around £100s worth of plastic junk for their kiddies' Christmas presents?

Where do they get the money from?

I went into the Disney Store on Sunday to get a gift for my son's 1st birthday and I couldn't beleive how many people were in there, literally staggering around laden down with £500+ of crap, plus little darlings hanging on their arms squeaking: "Mummy I want I want I want"

Thank God my son is not old enough to do that!

I would never be able to afford to spend that much on him and tbh I don't know if I would even if I could. Surely kids don't appreciate all that junk and half of it ends up in the bin within a couple of months anyway! I'd hate the thought of my son growing up with no respect for the value of money and being so greedy!

Why do people equate spending lots of money with good parenting?

Do they get mad when you ask them to spend time with the kids? Mine says it is offensive and its saying he is a neglectful father. I say maybe he feels that way, but I never mean it that way, I dont think hes neglectful, he just needs a nudge now & again. Does this cause problems in your house?

I watched this video, linked above, and was appauled, my parents have never been for vacination but I never saw so many stories in one place.
This is doctors and people saying how bad it is.
There is a wealth of information on the web about how bad these are for your health.

What do you think about clinics putting children on birth control without contacting parents? Is this true? I mean I agree that if the child is sexually active that they should be on some form of birth control, but what about the parents rights? This is their child.Shouldnt they know this?

A local parenting/family resource group is hosting a seminar on this topic & I can find very little online to help me understand what it is, so that I can decide whether I'd like to attend.

So I was talking to a mom friend today at my son's school. She has 3 children ages 1, 4, and 6. She was picking up her 6 year old. She said her 4 year old was on a play date. I asked her if her husband was watching her 1 year old and she said no, that he was working. She said her 1 year old had a fever and was crying so she put him to bed. She didn't want to wake him so..... she left him home, alone in his crib sleeping while she came to pick up her son. I said her name in disbelief and she said it was only 15 minutes. Would you ever do that? There are so many "what ifs". Is is really worth the risk. I am just in shock...

I wasn't letting her hit me in the face because I had a church survice to go to the next day and the boxing glove may have left me with a bloody nose or something, so I just let her hit me in the body as much as she wanted. my neice is a great boxer with those gloves on and I don't understand why her parents got so upset? oh well, what do you guys think of the whole body shot ordeal?

With all the material things. The ads on tv, get this, buy that, money, money, credit, get a car, do this, do that, kids just get sucked right into it. Mommy I want this, Daddy I want this, I want, I want. Is the trick to just deny them and never give in? Just buy them what they need and very little of what they want? Or just don't buy everything they want, say no sometimes, and leave it at a no, don't redecide because they cry about it? They'll definitly get over it quicker if they're used to you saying no at times and sticking to it. Don't be like, Yes my little princess, your wish is my command, to everything. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

I know the best option is to ship the kids off to a friends house or somewhere else, but how do you handle being intimate while the kids are also in the house? Have you run into any problems because of them being home?

my 2 year old nephew spends one week with my mother, father, and brother. Then he goes to his dads, grandfather, and uncles house for a week. it is split custody. Recently he returned to my mothers house with the phrases
1 "I'll beat you"
2 "Ill bust your as*"
3."Ill get my belt on you"
4. "I'll hit you"
and he follows up hitting when he says this (he says it when he gets mad or in trouble).
He also started saying "I'll get my knife on you".

What would you do??? How would you go about asking his fathers side of the family what was the deal (without sounding to accusing). They do play a lot of video games but im thinking it is something more. you can tell that this child isnt physically abused? Advice anyone??

Well Christmas is going to be rough this year we are in a finacial rut right now and i have 4 children. The oldest ones i can deal with they will understand why theres not much under the tree this year but how do you tell a 6 yo girl that? She still belives in Santa and i dont want to crush that in her and i cant give her more because of that thats just not fair. So my question is how do i tell my daughter or explain this to her with out crushing that belief in Santa. I know i could just not say anything and just let her open whatever we can manage to get for them but shes made her list to Santa already andits really not that big but still over our budget per child. What do you think would be the best way to go about this? And please noone say well you can afford the internet and all that but no x-mas for your kids cause things are tight i can pay my bills and keep food in the house just cant afford a large bill for x-mas. Thanks in advance

We have so many people making kids, and the system is supporting them. I had enought of this. Some don't care if they have many children by different mothers and fathers.
