Well my dad had me when he was 15, and my mum wasnt around since i was 1 month old, neither where my dads parents and he had alot of guidence from an older work college. my dad first started teaching me how to box when i was 10, now im 15 and every time his older work college (who's alot like a grandfather) sees me with the gloves on, or going down to the gym, to a sparring match he gets angry with my dad. It has to do with the fact the if your Neice gets really interested in boxing (like i did.) she will want to compete a little bit. Then she would be punching people, and people would be punching her, and parents are protective of there babys getting punched in the face. I no that my dad now regrets teaching me, because i have lost 4 adult teeth, and now have a fair few fake ones, and i have a scar in the corner of my eyelid from when i got nocked out once when my friends came to watch me, and i was laughing at them, because they looked so out of place (4 preppy 14 year old girls cheering and clapping in heels and mini's) and my oppenent got me with a great right hook, and i smashed my head into the corner rail, and was nocked unconsouis. My boyfriend also gets really protective about me boxing to, because im pretty he thinks that all the guys will be hitting on me, and not take me serousisly (alot of people dont at first)
i think that you sould continue teaching your neice, as long as she wants to learn. Every girl sould no how to protect them self alittle bit, so you could tell her parents that, but be fully teaching her how to box, not just defend herself.
xx kye.

I personally see know problem if you are teaching her the art of boxing or self defense. If you are just promoting violence then you have a problem. You also must keep in mind you are the Uncle, not the parents. This means you must honor their rules and guidelines for raising their children. Some parents do not want their children involved in violent sports and while I do not agree with this idea, I respect the parents rights first and foremost.

I think you need to discuss your niece's behavior with her parents. She might be a great boxer, but she might also be looking for an outlet to let go of her anger. The fact that she's 11 and you're 23 might also be a factor. Since she is a minor child, you wouldn't want to come up against molest charges.

Maybe they felt she was being disrespectful to her uncle for showing off her moves on you.Just reassure them that if they felt offended or upset at her doing so then make sure you tell them that it was your idea and to please not be so upset at her.If they prefer her leaving her boxing abilities where she trains then accept that and help her not get in trouble.Like in some martial arts the Teacher doesnt allow their students to "show off" or use their abilities in "public" because it's a respect thing! and perhaps they just want her to have the same understanding,That just because she is a boxer and good at it,she shouldnt be so quick to show it off, even if it's to her uncle.

I'm a 45 year old dad. If I walked in and saw that I wouldn't have cared. I probably would have said, "Be careful not to hit your Uncle so hard", and left it at that.
Hey buddy you need to be careful how you word things, your question made it sound like you were letting her do tequila shots off your navel or stomach.

When I was growing up , we wrestled around all the time, there are 5 of us, all grown and never in trouble. I don't think
it hurts anything when your just playing around, but the parents
should be allowed to raise their child the way they want too.
But not be overly protective, when she gets out in the real world it might be a big shock to her.

No.
What's wrong with her parents? Are they afraid that she'll decide to become a boxer? (what are the odds of that, about one in a million???)
If I had a daughter, I'd be happy to let her punch the bejeezuz out of you! Body shots, crotch shots, whatever came naturally! :-)

Yeah if she is your neice then you should have known that her parents would be mad. Does she like to box if she like to then you shouldn't feel bad. Its a Both thing. Ya understand?

It's probably nothing against you she probably had been getting on her parent's nerves by being bad or something and they just got aggravated at her. Hope this helped.
