My kids are 14 months apart, of course it took a while for them to start playing with each other, but when one was 2 and the other one 3, they were almost like twins. They are best friends and very rarely bored and asking for adult attention.

I think a bigger age gap is better..I have a 9 yr old and a 21 month old and they get along great...my daughter(the 9 yr old) helps me out a lot with her brother and enjoys him which means i can get a break here and there as i am a stay at home mother..When i put him to bed, i spend time with her and she does not feel neglected....now my friend has a 2 and 5 year old and she is pulling her hair out on a daily basis. My other friend has 7 month old twins, a 3 year old and a 6 and 7 year old and she is beyond stressed. My daughter's best friend has a brother and they are 2 years apart..which is 8 and 10 and the mother says they fight like cats and dogs. They do not get along in the least bit. Me and my sister are 6 years apart and we get along great and we did when we were younger too so it has worked for me and my family with the big age gap

well i think that if they are a year apart they are really hard to take care of as youngsters!! I mean when they get older that will probably ok and they will be good friends but think bout these things....
1. if they are a year or 2 apart one will be 1 and the other 2!! Terrible 2's!! Or 1 and 3!! Terrible 3's to
2. You and your sisters prolly didnt get along cuz well your youner and older sisters older think that they have outgrown you and little sibblings just annoy you for the fact that u have out grown them!! But the closer in age the more likely they will to bein friends!!

I think its best for their relationship to have them close together. But its easier for the parents to have them a few years apart. I am 9 years older then my sister and 11 years older then my brother because of the age difference sometimes I feel like a second mother because we have nothing in common and our relationship is more of an advisor/advisee relationship. On the other hand they are two years apart and are really great friends.

I have 3 boys, ages are 14, 6, and 3. My eldest boy is a great big brother and helps out whenever he can, my younger two, cant seem to play without fighting and arguing. Everyone is different, but i think i prefer an age gap.

There are only 18 months between me and my brother, and we don't get on at all and never really have - we played together as young children but that's about it. My cousins are the same, only about 2 years between them and they don't get on at all.
I have friends who have 4 kids with about 5 years between each of them and they do seem to get on. My kids are going to be about 6 years apart, I'm hoping it'll work out ok! I think it just depends on individual personalities.
The only problem with a big gap is that you just get one packed off to school and the next one arrives, and you have to go through the whole nappy/weaning/sleepless nights/safety gates thing again. There may be something to be said for getting it all over in one go!

You have nothing in common that's why. Not only that but at your ages...it's normal to not get along with your sisters. In time you will change and they will change and you just might get along. Don't worry about it too much now.
My oldest son is 4 years older than his sister....they only get along marginally (I would think it's because she's a girl but no) she's more immature, she still has her little child temper tantrums etc that is normal for her age...but for which he would get punished for (because he's NOT 3).
She gets along much better with her younger brother who is 2 yrs younger than her...but again only a little bit at this age (he's still young yet himself).
And I hate both my sisters.....one is 3 yrs older than me and the other is 18 months younger. I think that it's more to do with a person's personality, temperment, interests...and in the case of my sisters...whether or not they are completely and utterly nuts!!

i prefer a year apart rather than big gap since my elder sister and i are a year apart and we are close..we can talk about a lot of stuff since there is not really an age difference between us while my younger sister is 5 years apart from me and gosh, she knows how to get on my nerves!!

i wanted to have my kids closer together becasue my brother and i were only 2 years apart and we got along very well but my sister was 8 years younger than me and 6 younger than my bro and we always faught with her and left her out. now that we are older we look back and wish it wasnt like that and we are trying to make up for lost time and have a better relationship with her.
