My stepson is in the hospital because he has a broken arm. He is having surgery tomorrow. His mother called me and asked me to come to the hospital in the morning. Now my husbands entire family is going. There are only four people allowed in his hospital room at a time. His mother of course will be there and his step father. My husband can not get off work so I will be there. My mother in law, father in law, sister and brother in law, neice and nephew will also be there. Who do you think should be allowed to stay in the room on our side of the family? Just curious your opinions as Im sure my in-laws are going to try and keep me out of the room. Thanks!

Does he or she still be able to attend public school? What is the difference between those children and normal children with parents? Where do they live?
And if a child is diagnose with a serious disease, how do they live as a foster child? Are they allow to attend normal school, etc?
Please answer any of these question or you can give me the link to a website that might help. Thanks.

I was brought up in the sixties but my parents were post war victorians. My seventeen year old daughter has a totally different attitude to life..sex..politics..religion etc.and its all 'in yer face' Whilst I canter along without any real problems with her, it all seems so different and I always worry if its a better way forward. Her children will be 'in her face at fifteen' and we will be back to a time when children didn't have a childhood.
Did people of my age live in a golden era?

Can some people assist with this one please?

We have two daughters, one of them ten, the other three.

What word would YOU consider to be more "proper" to refer to one's breasts.

I say "boobs", but my wife says "titties".

Heres the conflict: I consider her referring to the word "titties" somewhat degrading and borderline sexual in wording.

However, I consider my reference to them as "boobs" not bad at all. Of course she considers that a "dirty word" the same as I look at the word "titties".

So....it's time for some unbiased opinions on this.

Yes, I know referring to them as breasts would have worked too, but I'm only assuming we totally forgot about the actual word for them in the start of their upbringing.

All opinions are appreciated.

I realize that I will receive a per diem check at the end of every month that I foster a child. However, I need help affording the up front expenses of everything that any one child could need. Ex: diapers, formula, crib, high chair, bottles, toys, clothes jarred foods, etc. Since I don't know what age or sex child I might be caring for on any given day, I have no idea how to buy in anticipation. Yet, if I wait until I get a child to foster, I certainly will not be able to afford all that that child needs at the moment that I receive that child into my care. Is there some organization that can help me get everything that I need to provide for a foster child? If not, I will be beyond bankrupt, on my limited budget, trying to buy everything. Thanks!

I'm facing a hard decision. I love being a mother more than I ever loved working in chemistry field. I have two degrees and worked very hard to get them. The problem is I am torn inside between wanting to be a great mom and be there for my daughter and future son, a milk and cookies mom who greets her kids at the door and wanting to use my education. I will lose my skills if I stay home too long and will have great difficulty going back. Also, I feel a huge lose of identity, like I'm now invisible because I am only mom(my child is an infant so I am home) and I feel the whole world sees me as a failure because I am not doing it all...I don't think women can do it all well. I just would not be a good mom after a long hard day and only an hour or so to spend with my child. I wouldn't even have that time because I would have to prepare for work, get the house clean and do all the things working moms can't do during the day. I really would like some input from women ?

Just because the court says my kids father can see them everyother weekend, I don't think that is enough. We have 2 boys age 10 & 11 and I feel they need their dad more in their lives. That means he only sees them 4 days a month. You cannot be a good parent only seeing them 4 days. He would not even go to the hospital when our son needed stitches. We were just down the street. He said it was to late and he was tired. Our son was upset. My ex did not believe me when I told him that. My ex says I see them when the court says too. Or he says I work to late or it's to far to drive ( 20 min.) He is not involved in any kind of responsibility only the fun part 4 days a month. He is 41 and lives with his mother, so it is not that another woman is stopping him from seeing his kids more. Do you think that is enough time to be a good parent?

We're planning our wedding/honeymoon next year and we're trying to decide if we should take our daughter with us...she'll be almost 2 years old at the time. It would be nice to be alone on our honeymoon but I'm afraid she'll cry constantly without us and I know that'll be eating at me the whole time we're gone and I won't have any fun. What do you think? Appropriate or inappropriate?

My first husband and I split up four years ago when my daughter was just one and a half, and I have been remarried now for two years, and her dad (stepfather) is her dad as she says cause its all she knows as a dad, pictures can only go for so long before she wants to see a real face to compare to the picture. Well now we need to explain to her cause she is asking why he is not around and doesnt call and everything along those lines, We are not sure of what to say to her without saying anything bad. If anyone has advice please let us know.We are lost. April

The topics are pregnancy, birth, parenting, marriage etc.

I can't think of any questions besides these:

When and how did you decide to get married?

Who was more financially responsible for the wedding?

How long did you wait before having a child?

How was it to raise a child?

What were the worst and best parts?

How did you feel when you first found out you were going to be a father?

That's somewhat the situation I'm in and I sometimes think it really bothers my parents. I'm a good kid and never get into trouble or any of that. To me, everyone at school is very immature and they don't fit into what I want in life and the direction I'm going. My parents are always trying to convince me to go make friends or, even worse, convincing me that I actually do have them but 'just don't know it'. I know they mean well, but how do I convince my parents there is nothing wrong with me and, also, how do you think they feel towards me for this?
