It's not as if this is the first time it happened. I'm aware that most of the books on the list of "greatest books ever written" were banned at some point in time. Ok, now personally I'm against books being banned in school period. The point is to teach them to read, then don't limit what they can read. Reading has educational value and if they are in high school and still haven't learned to tell fiction from fact, then you need to allow them to read more so they can figure it out.
I had to read some of the worst books known to man--and the same book nearly every year in the school system (which didn't magically seem like it moved up in complexity each time I had to reread it either) simply b/c it had never been controversal.
But I was curious--from a parenting perspective, what do you think on the school bann of Harry Potter? Does anyone on here agree and why?
