thank you for all your great answers. no he is not being bullied but he is in the same class as his cousin and i've been told they are just like twins and even though they can fight like cat and dog they play together really well. the teachers were a little concerned but as the year has gone on don't seemed to be that bit bothered. when the children are doing projects they do like to pair them of with other kids. the sad thing is i've seen him in class and all the rest of the children seemed alert except for him maybe i should change schools any ideas? my child is only 5 but alot brighter than most 5 year olds and i'm not just saying that because i'm his mum

My god son's mother is very frustrating. She is a single mom struggling to make ends meet. She lives from check to check and never has any money saved up just in case an emergency comes up. She has no contact with her son's father. She gets help from her family in babysitting but all of her bills are her own responsibility. She has told me that she has had to take out a loan just to pay her rent. Sigh
Now to make matters worst she is pregnant! She is struggling with the one child that she has so she goes out and gets herself into this situation again. I think that she did it on purpose. She was always talking about how she wants a little girl. She says that she wants a newborn little girl to raise. Why would anyone in their right mind get pregnant when they have no money as it is??
I don't know if she is even still with the father of this baby. I know that she recently changed her number to get away from "certain people". Is she crazy or is it just me??

My 6 year old god son is very sick. I'm not sure if has some sort of virus or what but he has been very weak for the past 2 days and threw up yesterday. He has no appetite and his mother had to force him to drink water because he was becoming very dehydrated.
His mother is unable to stay home with him because she has to work. She is a single mom and has no contact with his father. All of her relatives have to work and were unable to keep him. She was forced to send her son off to school in this condition because she is a single mom and is pregnant with her second child and cannot afford to miss a day at work.
I wish I would have had the day off because I would have kept him myself.
My question is, did she handle this right? Should she have sent him to school or called in and stayed home with him. I do not judge her actions because I am not in her shoes and do not know her situation. I am just curious as to how other single moms would have handled this.

My eldest step-daughter goes to a childminder before and after school. In her contract it says that she gets 4 weeks full paid hols per year (fair enough, everyone is entitled to hol pay).....but also 4 weeks full pay per year when we can choose for our daughter not to go to her (ie if we are on holiday).
Is this right ?? We are paying her to go on hols but also have to pay her if we are on hols ??? When my son was at a childminder 7 years ago we paid her half if we were on holiday.

My 2 step-daughters (2 and half and 9) are expected by their gran to go and stay 2-6 weeks in school summer hols. Their gran lives in highlands of Scotland and we live in Yorks so not exactly down road !! She smokes, fills them with choc, sweets and e numbers, doesn't think its her place to dicipline if they are naughty, and only livs in a 1 bed flat. We still have to pay childcare if they are away. I don't want them to go as they are settled and in a routine. When they went last summer they both piled weight on (the eldest over 1 stone) had no dicipline and it took us 2 weeks to get the youngest to sleep on her own again. I don't want to seem to their gran that I am being unreasonable but I really don't want them to go. She will smoke around them (even if we tell her not to) and she feels it is not her place to say no to them and that wont change. I am scared they will come back overweight, spoilt brats.
Am I just being unreasonable as she is ther gran and its not for too long?

Her mum and I are fairly friendly as we drop them off, take them out etc. Now the other girl says she is a Goth all the time, my daughter is girly and fed up of it. She told me the girl even says she is gay at 9, my daughter just wants to play with another girl more like herself.
The last time the friend slept at our house, I did notice she was isolating herself from the others, she brought her own personal cd player and listened to it when I had got them food, dvds and cds to listen to on the bedroom players.
I cant blame my daughter for changing her choice of friends, its her right and I can see why.
But the mum texted this am and I will see her at school. What do I say?

he said he doesn't know how long to ground me yet he won't until after the parent teacher conference that shouldn't have happened neways

Some friends of mine have a 1 year old baby, who the Dad sometimes just puts on the front seat of their car when going out. If she is in a baby car seat she's not strapped in at all-just sits their rolling around- and it's a stage 0 car seat (ie up to 9 months old) so she's way too big for it to support her anyway. I've not seen the mum do this but she does know that he's never strapped her in properly when he puts her in her car seat, even from a very young age.

I've been asking them for ages when they're going to buy the next stage up seat (to try and make them realise they should already have one without letting on how shocked I am with them) and now they have bought one but they don't use it.

I don't know what to do! i can't believe they'd put her life at risk so stupidly, as they love her so much, but they are doing it and it's not just a one-off, it's all the time.
I don't want to lose them as friends, but how do i say something without doing that?

I'm sorry if i offend some mum out there doing the same thing to their kids. I was with my 18mths boy to his checkup with the Doc this afternoon. Then a mother and grandma with their boy around the same age as mine was there. That little boy has a little cute haversack bag behind his back, with a lock infront to prevent the bag from dropping out and a really long rope was attach behind the bag. So that boy was walking around with his gradma or mum holding on the rope and pulling him back if he walks too far away. I'm sorry to say that i have only seen people doing that same thing with their dogs. This really makes me sick. Just wanna find out if there are people out who agree with me or are doing the same thing to their kids?

Please don't just say "an abused kid" or "is this a joke?" because it isn't a joke, it's real, and you guys are very harsh to get angry at a kid. I would like to know, that it is called when a child is afraid of there parents? Not just afraid, but more like afraid that there going to murder the kid and be afraid to go to sleep because of it. Please don't call me unreasonable, she's almost done it with her other three kids.

I've 2 kids of 8 and 4. Of course I want to send them to the best schools possible. But due to financial problem, I'm unable to send them. I see the kids of the same age group going to much well reknowned schools, eating and enjoying the world lavishly. But as I see mine, I really get depressed. At least as children I think they should get the benefits. But....

What are some good, healthy, and quick lunch ideas for a 13 month old? At 13 months old how much whole milk and juice did they get in a 24 hour period? Also, did you have your children on a flexible feeding and napping schedule, if so, tell me what your day was like, and what time they were put down for a nap and fed. I seem to have a hard time keeping him on a consistent schedule. Seems like one day he can go all afternoon without a nap(then he is so ill by 5:00 that I cannot do anything with him, but let him sleep, then that messes up bedtime. Then some days I can barely get his lunch made before he is ready to take a nap, and I've tried doing all these things at the same time each day. Has other Mom's had this problem and how did you deal with it?

what can i do to help my daughter with school bullying? Is there anything that can be done, ie; in the school. Are there any laws i can use? What can i do when the parents of the other children (bullyies) are informed and refuse to do anything like talk to there children about their actions. I've had to pull my daughter out of school, because she is terrified of going out. She has been threatened with physical harm from a few teenagers. Is there anyone out there that can give me ome advice as to how I can handle this situation before something bad happens to my daughter. The school and the parents of the other children don't seem to want to help. I'm trying my best as a single parent, I'm at my wit's end with this one. How can I handle this without getting into trouble with the Law? Any leads, suggetions would really be appreciated...distressed parent!!!!
