California does withhold the law and actually promotes and enforces the law that newborns to 3 days old is able to be drop off, without questioned to firestations, churches, police departments or any other local/state facilities such as those.
Even if infants are older than prospected 3 days old, no facility will turn away nor ask questions to a person, woman or man, dropping a child off.
I hear about it all the time too about "mothers" and even "fathers" abandoning their infants on lawns, dumpsters, streets or left in stores. It is horrifying and terrible those who fear public display more than fear of the child's death.
I know they are scared, but that child matters more than that emotion in my eyes.

I wonder if perhaps some ppl are unaware of this program or if they even trust it! Somehow the word has to get out and these women need to know that they really can abandon these babies at a hospital and give them a better family, without getting in trouble.

yes, california has that.. They can drop a baby off at a hospital, fire station, police station etc without being penalized. However, these young women these days tend to not want to do that, instead they do more brutal things to hide the fact that they were pregnant to begin with. I'm glad we have the rule in place, i just wish people would use it instead of killing their babies.

Yes there is although only ONE baby has been left at a safe haven this past year. One was even found inside an abandoned car (dead) I'm wondering what good are these "safe havens" if they're not being used?

i am a hospital volinteer and there is a law in every state called "safe haven" where a mother can walk in to any emergency room in any hospital and abonden her baby! all she has to do is tell one of the workers that she is leaving the child and envokeing her safe hevan right and they will take care of the rest! the child will be safe and put in a good home!
