I really do not meant to cause offensive by asking this question, I am just curious.

SAHMs all say to me how hard it is, but I am a SAHM and I am not finding it hard at all. Does that mean I sm doing it wrong?
I have a clean house, I play with my daughter a lot and take her out different places so what am I missing? What is the hard bit?

My 4-year-old daughter has two friends named Suzie- one is caucasion (who she's known her whole life), the other is of Indian heritage (who she's recently met). To differentiate between the two, she says "Suzie" or "My brown Suzie." She says it as simply as if she was saying "My blonde Suzie." My question is: should I make her stop? I'm afraid if I tell her it's not nice to say that, she will somehow think that being brown is bad, and I don't want that. But I also don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, particularly the "brown Suzie's" family. Should I just ignore it?

OK in all liklihood yes we do. But the reason i ask in this way is because last night i answered a question on here that was well not really a question but more of a notice that there is a disgusting site out there that promotes and tries to justify pedophilia. There is also another site that has a petition going to try to get the first site taken off the net. (simplified for space)
So anyway, when i went back this morning to see what kind of response the asker got i am looking at all the answers and in the little rating section everyone that said they would sign the petition had a thumbs down. So to me that says there is some pedophile on here who is giving thumbs down to these people because they believe it is OK. Am i wrong? What is your first thought as to why there would be thumbs down? OK maybe i am just ranting but i'd really like to know if others think the same as i do or if i am jumping to conclusions here.

My 8 yr old daughter has severe abandonment issues. Her father has been in & out of prison since she was born. I have since remarried & we have a very happy home. Her father, however, is still in & out of her life. Now, she has issues with me leaving her. She knows how much I love her & that I would never leave, but she gets scared to death anytime she doesn't know exactly where I am. I can't afford therapy right now, but I don't like seeing her stress as much as she does. What can I do to help her? I have 2 other children as well, so I don't have as much time to sit & talk as I'd like. She stresses over many other things as well.

Have you ever received a compliment in public, from a stranger, telling you how well your kids behave and what a great job you're doing? For every one time my children are bad in public, there are a dozen times when they're good, and I always tell them how great they're behaving so as to reinforce the good behavior. But I have yet to receive a "hey mom, good job" during those times from a stranger.

my neighbor considers me a friend, as for myself i could live without her in my life. her daughter had a child at 15 then again at 18 and now twins at 21. coming from a bad home and being bounced around the system i've tried to help but the more i know about them and see i can't help feel these children deserve better. an unkept house- laundry, mopping, vaccuming and so on are not at the top of thier to do list. grandma is drugged most of the time, grandpa is a drunk, both chain smoke with the knowledge that the 1st 2 children have severe ashma and sinus problems. all the adults act as though one will do more than the other so they do nothing. i have tried to avoid the whole mess but now i don't think i can. they have been investigated before to no avail. the oldest child is now 5 and has tried to stab her mothers newest man in the back. how do you get involved without getting in to deep

I think that to give a child that much leeway is wildly irresponsible. The other day a kid of six or seven threw a glass of water at my table- and the dad just giggled nervously and avoided my eyes while the mother whined "You'll go in time out if you do it again"- Which to me is just like an invitation to the kid. What's going on with the kids setting the rules these days?

I just saw a debate on babycenter regarding dvd players in cars and wanted your opinion.

Do you agree with them? Love them? Hate them? Why?

My husband has a portable one that my parents gave him before he went to Iraq and last weekend we put it in the car for our (2 year old) son, for the first time. It's not mounted in the vehicle so it's, obviously, not as safe as other types that are but we did mount it on the back of the front seat. We went on a camping trip and it was a 3 hour drive (one way). He sat there, content, watching the entire movie. It was the most peaceful, long distance drive we have ever taken with him. I can't say I would use it for trips shorter than 2 1/2- 3 hours but in this case, it made it so much easier for everyone. He almost never watches TV at home so it was somewhat of a treat for him.

I never did or said anything offensive to her. Could she maybe be mad at me or not like me because my daughter could have said something mean to her daughter before? I don't know of any times where my daughter did anything, but was just wondering if that could be a possibility. Our kids are 5 yrs. old.
