We went skating at Rockefeller center and they bought me a dress at Bloomingdale's. We also went out to dinner at an Italian restaurant Mama something ( it was 25 years ago) I did not get much for Christmas that year (my birthday is in October and we went to NYC in November) I grew up in New Jersey so it was a day trip. I loved it!!

I was turning 1 and my parent thru a lavished theme party and spent $5 a piece on giftbags for each guest and invited 40 people and rented a huge amusement park and had a party planner, and a florist, and a baker. Except I cant really remember that one.(joking, but amazed that some do this, then I have to watch them open all the presents while my kids are screaming)

My favorite was my 13th, when we rented Footloose on a beta tape and we danced and danced.

The first party were doing for my son - his third b-day, we'll be making musical instruments out of recycled stuff, like tubes, and beans. And calling it a birthday jam. (although if I could rent a marching band, his favorite, I might)

My dad came and picked me up from school as a surprise and took me out to lunch. We spent the rest of the day playing hooky and went shopping. It was nothing extravagent but it was fun, esp since we were never all that close because he travelled so much. I can't remember any presents I got during any other birthday, but I do remember the things we picked out together.

The best birthday probably was when I was around ten years old and invited a lot of friends over. We simply had pizza and cake, but we played all sorts of games indoors and outdoors. We had "goodie" snack bags even though we were too old for them. It was basically a day to be indulgent and creative with friends.

As a young kid I had a party almost every year. I remember them all, but the one that was most special for me was my 13th. I was punished so I wasn't expecting anything at all. Anyway I came home from dinner with my family to find my friends in my den. My mom hired a DJ and had food brought in and it was just a big party. Fun, fun, fun!!! I didn't think I was getting anything that year as I was punished so the surprise party was an even bigger, welcomed surprise.

When I turned 13 we were at my Aunt's house (I have a christmas birthday) for the holidays. I was completely surprised with a cake that had trick candles. My cousins who I rarely saw were all there and we just had a fun time. I really think it was the surprise element that made it so memorable.

The year I got my bike was my favorite. My mom was a single parent and we had very little money so I was so suprised! She must have had to save for months!
