I have a friend who has just split with her man and she would like to know how much money per week she is likely to get assuming she gets nothing from her other half. No savings etc

Thanks guys

Thanks guys I just needed to know, and by the way for the clever *** who thought they were funny to put other peoples taxes..... she works and would be paying her own benefits so thanks for your very unimportant and unasked for input.

Thanks to everyone else I needed to give her a ball park figure to work with as she had been given incorrect information.

tammer18 - Perhaps she has only just broken up with her man and is just getting on her feet ......... maybe you just need time to get started all over again (unless you live in a perfect world that is)

Compassion I guess isn't your strong point

hi

she should get somewhere in the region of about a hundred a week, i did it myself 3 years ago and yes it was a struggle but im sure she will manage fine.

As to some other certain people on here, people ae asking for your advice not to be bullied, go and bother someone else if you arent going to be helpful.

Some of you have no idea how hard it is being a single mum, you think we all siot on our backsides and do nothing but this isnt the case. give the girl a break!

I found that when i worked 16 hours a week iwas fine i have 1 child the same age.. 16 hours a week i still recieve the childtax plus working tax credit for myself.. on top of this they pay 80% of childcare costs and I still got help with rent.. and YES i was much better off working than not working.. people sometimes ask is it worth it yes it before you take on any job you can get a calculation to find out how much better you will be..you will always be better off working! hope this helps.x.

It all depends on her circumstances. I mean does she work full time ? I do, and have 2 children under 3. But if I want nice things in life for my children I have to work. If she does not work she will obviously be entitled to benefits which will probably be minimal . She has to feed and clothe herself and baby. Plus every thing else. As you know money goes no-where! As long as she is well and coping with the situation thats the most important thing. She must feel lonely so look after her ! Tell her to come and live with us I will look after her xx

Why doesnt she get out and get a job, and not expect other people to support her. If she goes on welfare they will make her go after the father.

Im a single mom. Im divorced, 2 kids and one on the way, No child support, no welfare. Its one thing to work and cant make it..... but its another to sit on your *** and expect handouts.

NO I WORK FULL TIME, MY EX DIDNT WORK. I HAVE COMPASSION , IF SHE WORKS THERE IS NO REASON WHY SHE CANT MAKE IT WITH 1 SMALL CHILD.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID THAT SHE WORKED.
