my husband and i have 16 kids (8 [ 5 his own, 3 adopted] from his side, 5 [ 3 my own, 2 adopted ]from mine, and 3 [1 ours, 1 adopted, 1 foster care] from after we married), and also my niece and nephew are living with us for a while. they range in ages from 10 mo. - 19. We were recently at the childrens shelter to see about adopting our 16 year old foster son, when we met a child (with a past I'll fail to mention) there named Brittany. She was 13 and i just wanted to wrap her in my arms and tell her that nobody would ever hurt her again. i know it's not possible to take in every orphaned or hurting child in the world, despite the fact that if i could i would, but should we consider taking her in. Money and room is not an option. we have plenty of both to care for our kids. but i don't know how the others would respond. my husband feels the same way i do, but is stilla little unsure. opinions, thoughts?

Say you have kids 7, 9, 11, and 13. Would you tell them all at once, or wait until each reaches a given age (13, 14, whatever)? Would it be the same age for girls and boys?

I so hate when moms say "oh if your kids will watch violent movies they will become mass murderers! That is just a joke.

Sure it may be not appropriate for a 6 year old to be watching texas chainsaw massacre... But a 13 or 12 year old who is into horror movies will obviously know its fake.. He is not going to become a mass murderer.

Kids by the age of 12 fully understand what going on in a movie. My friend has 3 sons and the her 13 year old is a gorehound, he loves horror movies. And he is about the most polite kid you would ever meet.

And also, I usually ignore the ratings of movies. Movies that were oscar nominated, or very well made movies that may have an R rating, does not mean its a horrible movie to watch.
It may be complicated for young children to follow but there is no harm done.

If there is a movie that may show nudity (bare bottem or boobs) for a couple seconds.. Cmon people... How does that ruin a 13 year old..

Woman charged with homicide by abuse;
SPOKANE, Wash. - On Wednesday Adriana Lytle, accused of abusing her four-year-old step daughter to the point of death, wept as she was formally charged with one count of homicide by abuse.

The prosecutor said she was a flight risk because she has no family here, and the judge denied a motion to reduce her bail which remains at $500,000. She plead not guilty and the preliminary trial date is May 14, 2007.

Police say inside the Lytle's third-floor apartment abuse and torture led to the death of four-year-old Summer Phelps. The Lytles have admitted to using a shock collar on the girl and hitting her with a broom handle.

In documents released Wednesday there is new evidence that Summer may have been sexually abused. Investigators are quoted as saying "The severe bruises oriented over Summer's front pelvis area could be consistent with someone grabbing her from behind to control her while

Ok so I found out yesterday that my 11 year old son does not have any kind of skin problem like eczema or a rash (thank god) but his skin is just plain dry on around his entire body besides his face.

I still make him have warm/hot baths for a long time.

What can I do to make his skin smoother (not with a rough dry surface)?

IF you had any past expierences please tell me what you did for your child (and what age they were at)

I am a single mom of 3. I have a 2, 3 and 8 year old. I am really stuck because if I work it barely covers daycare. I have no college degree and I want to be able to provide for my kids. I get very little child support despite fighting tooth and nail through court for it. I am beginning to think that college may be the only way to make more money. Are there any single moms out there that went to college with 3 or more very young children?

My 5 yr old brother is allergic to eggs. along with other things. The doctors say on a scale of 1-10 (10 being death) he rates a 9 1/2. He's also allergic to natural peanut butter (not store bought), shell fish, Nuts, mold, and something outside (found that one out while camping on an island... horrible.) He's a very active child. He'll be starting school in the fall. Everyone's been dreading this because kids share and accidents happen. He knows he cant have eggs, and is very good about it. We've had a bad past year. Our grandmother died of a Brain Tumor that she had for 5 years. (no one knew.... including her DR.) after that, a gas quad was bought for his bday in Oct. someone stole it out of the yard 2 days before xmas. Anyone have any Ideas about how we could make the year easier and more fun for him. He's wonderful and deserves to be happy. Please help.

They say the sweetest things to me. My six year old just came up to me all serious with a ring box in his hands. He opened it, towards me and it was empty, and he said, "Will you be my mom?" My oldest, when he was four, was also darling- He said: "Mom, I love you like I had a thousand hearts." What do your kids say to you that makes your heart sing?

Ok, Mom &/or Dad...
You adore your kid(s), you think they are smart, funny and the most amazing humans on the planet, but you can't brag about them to the other parents because... well... you just can't.
So here is a forum for you to do so. Shout it from the rooftop! Tell me what makes YOUR child (children) so utterly unique!

My 7yr old daughter reads at a 5th grade level, she is a champion rock climber, is sweet and funny, very intuitive, thinks we (her parents) are better than video games, wants to donate all the money in her piggy bank to the World Wildlife Fund, has her own opions about the war (we're pretty proud of her for that one!), and most of all, other people think she's really cool too.

So again, tell me about your child.. brag!!!! You deserve to!!!

So I'm seeing this beautiful Chinese girl (I am English) and I can't seem to get her parents' respect. The problem is I spent a night at her house last year, and ever since then they have frowned upon me. I didn't realise they had such strict rules about the opposite sex leaving before midnight.

I have tried to meet up with them (we communicate through email) but they never agree on a time or date with me. She has a midnight curfew every day of the week (including weekends) and I once tried to politely ask if they could compromise with this for a Ball and they twisted my words and told me not to tell them how to raise their child.

I've tried everything now, and I've tried my best to be respectful since the incident last year, but it seems they are stuck in their old fashioned ways which simply can't be attriubuted to modern North American society (she lives in Canada). What can I do to get their respect, or is it now impossible?!

I finally had enough of my 12 yr old swearing at me. Nothing was working. I tried grounding him, taking almost everything away, etc. I finally spanked him. I was thinking he was a little too old, but it seemed to have worked. I spanked him this morning and he has been polite to me all day..

But why do I feel so bad? I'm afraid my kids are going to hate me..

If you had a young daughter and for whatever reason you had to put her up for adoption, when it came to the appropriate time when she reached puberty, would you be happy that she'd a) been placed with a couple of male homosexuals and b) that they showed her about tapons/sanitary towels and explained about periods?

I personally would be absolutely apalled, but then I am biased in that I feel homosexuality is wrong and not so much a crime against God, but a crime against Nature itself, but I would be interested to hear other peoples views?

I am a mommy of 2 children a 2yr old and a 1 yr old. I also have 3 dogs. With just the 5 of us at home, it's great, I get a little me time..Now since I started to babysit, this little girl wants me to devote all my time to make her happy. She hits my son, and I put her in time out, she just laughs, I tell her to stop, and when she gets out she'll do it again. She has destroyed my child gate by swinging it hard and it snapped right in front of me. She doesn't listen to me at all, and she begs for fast food all day, and won't eat a healthy meal. I have her from 9 to 6, I feed her and drive her back and forth to her daddy's job. When we go to walmart I tell her to keep hand hands to herself and she touches everything, I had to paid for the glass bottle she dropped, I get paid 70 dollars. It's not enough when I have to drive, and feed her. Also, I have lost contact with my friends and my mother. I have told myself that'll handle this until June, and then I'll tell them my 2 weeks notice.

I have a blog about my kids, mostly for my family and friends who don't live nearby, but also because I wanted to have some kind of journaling for them when they got older. Most of my family and friends comment infrequently but now I have this blogger, who claims to be a teen-ager from India which seems likely (she's been blogging for more than a year and I see from her links I'm not the only person she's attached herself to), but she posts ALL the time and sometimes demands I post more pics and videos of my kids.

I feel kind of torn. I'm thinking maybe I'll just take it down, but then I know I won't journal regularly without a blog and won't have a detailed record of my kid's first couple of years.

I was mostly just ignoring the posts, but a friend of mine noted she thought it was creepy and I'm thinking it is too. I wouldn't mind so much if my kids weren't involved.

Any ideas. Is one annoyance enough to take it off?
