(And other electronic's) In my opinon, children see cell phones as toys, and most kids want one because 'everyone does'. I mean I own a cell phone because it is a need, I have a job where I need to be available at all times. (Phone call wise) How do you teach your child it is ok to be different, not to have the same things as most other children do without coming off as a 'mean mom' or dad?"

What I mean is, in todays PC world, are parents becoming to much like friends instead of parents. I see to many parents who refuse to make thier kids earn anything and just hand everything out and then wonder why there kids are such jerks when they get older. Are to many of us raising a generationg of kids you expect everything to be handouts? Parents need to be just that PARENTS first and friends second. What do you think.

He is five years old and is driving the wife and I insane. Actually, being an actual European, the wife seems to have a higher level of ability to tolerate lesser types than most. However, I admit to being at my wits end.

Amir wakes up late this morning, then proceeds to spill orange juice onto the tile floor! Fine accidents happen, even though they seem to happen more with this person. He then spent the next five minutes rattling on and on and on about some Spider Man movie. What the ****?

My 8 year old daughter is already studying Chinese at level 2, while teaching females 3 times her age about dignity and courage!

I know there is an age gap, but this is reggoddamndiculous!

So, my querie to the dear readers on this Y/A board is where to send off such a truculent tyke for the summer? Is there some sort of military camp we can just get 2 months of peace and quite from sending him too?

Don't even get me started on the uneven coloring he will do 38 % of the time. (I have checked and ran a report on my excel program to chart his progress.....not good....not good.)

stay at home mom for the last few years, I have no income and have moved in with a friend for now until I can my stuff together and become secure again. Right now my son is with his dad and now dad seems a bit more relaxed since we broke up...the thing is does it make me a bad mom for leaving my son in the care of his dad until I get my ball rolling? I can see him whenever I want and I thought him staying in the family home would be best for my son right now. Am I doing the right thing? I couldnt take any more of my ex-bfs crap and had to get out...does this make me a bad mom? I am in the process of finding a place to live and getting a real job.

She had been living with us for seven months and had been going to school (skipping a few times). She went back home to visit mother then decided to run away, had her fun then called daddy back to say she wanted to come home to us. I refused because her background (gangs, truancy, sex, etc.) was affecting my 11 y/o daughter, she started emulating her as far as her talk, and dressing similar. Step daughter has not been home for a while and things are ok but I know my husband worries about her and wants her with him, he is constantly in a bad mood because she is not there. I don't know if I should give her another shot because I know her chances of doing something with her life are better here than with her mom. He says the same thing but I am worried my daughter might follow in her foot steps. I've talked to my daughter about the step daughter's behaviour and how I don't want her down the same path but am feeling guilty because I refuse to bring her back. Feel like crap!

My son is 5 and lost two of his teeth and now new ones are growing back but is it normal for them to be a little jagged on the top of them? There not smooth like his baby teeth are!
and when those fell out they were hollow at the ends and kind of jagged too! Is this normal? He has a dentist appointment in a week.

My female friend confided to me this weekend that she deep down wishes that her children were the same race as herself. She has 3 sons 9, 7 and 3 and their dad is black and she is white. She says that she loves her kids regardless of their color but she now regrets having children outside her race. She was in her teens when she had the first two, but has had many failed relationships with black men and she says that most white men won't date her and accept her kids. Is this a common feeling for people that have children outside their race but still love their kids? Will this feeling pass? I don't know what to say to her?

Though we are not married we havesplit after 18 years. He wants to legitimize the kids but I thought we had to do this when each of our children were born . We filled out the papers stating he was the father as I was the mother. What's the simplest way or website to find this info. to be sure he is known as the father and how to recieve copies. I reside in Middle Tennessee.

i'm 17 and in my family, I'm the older, mature, wiser, straight A student. i almost never get into trouble because i'm the good kid. my 15 year old sister gets in trouble all the time, because it's what she does. i never get into trouble because it's what i do. right now, i just feel like staying out all night and partying over the weekend. i'll be grounded for the next month, but i don't care. i hate being the responsible one.

i think i've already cracked. what should i do?

We all fell in love with our kids the moment we first saw them of course but when did you know that little child was really yours.
Mine was when he was about a month old & couldn't stop crying...the only thing that settled him was listening to Van Halen "Unchained" over & over again.
(I am a big VH fan & that is one of my alltime favorite songs)

I have a friend who is taking care of a teen/child who lives with her and her family and was promised to be given monthly payments to help take care of him and it's been almost a year and she hasn't seen a dime out of the teen's mother. I think she's on welfare and is keeping the money for what ever reason. Is there anyway to get that info (confirm is she is or not) or should I just report the mother? All I have is the kids ss# and the mother's name. Thanks for taking the time out to read my question.

my son is 8 years old and being raised by my parents...the father has custody (because i signed it over) My son is being raised by my parents and i have been denied my visitaion rights.. i have paid him support and he would not give recepits because he was on welfare and did not want to claim it.
I continued to pay him suppot as well as my parents.. They do not recieve any money from him and sometimes he will come by and take my son for a weekend or a night...
I have recently een calling lawyers seing as my situation has changed and i would like to have visitaion with my child and the father wont let me see him. Even though the custody papers say i have general and liberal access. My paretns want to go for custody and i suport them (i was 14 when i had my son )
i still see my son when at my prents house or when his dad is away for a week or two then he comes and stays with mefor anight, but i hate having to do things so secretivly..and my sn is having a hard time with it too.

I have a newborn, and it seems the only time I have to sleep at night is when my stepson wakes me up. He lives with us 3 days a week, and I don't know what to do to help him sleep in his room (which he has never had a problem with before) especially when I don't know for sure what his sleeping habits are at his mom's. I've been taking him back to his room, but 45 minutes later he's back next to me. Last night I was just too tired, and I let him have my spot and slept with the baby in the living room, which I know just perpetuates the problem. What should I do?
