There's a natural way to train a child to focus, which my child's counselor told me about. Have the child focus on something ie... a spot on the wall (not a clock) and time how long he is able to stare at it without diverting his eyes. Do this a few times a day and watch as he is able to increase his time. The younger you start the better. Most doctors don't want you to know about this because they get a kick back everytime you get a prescription refilled.

I give my son Melatonin he has ADHD. I have been giving it to him since he was three a neurologist recommended it. It works well. I also recently switched him from Adderall to daytraina (the patch) It works so much better with less side effects. His sleep is also better.
My son was on clonadine before Adderall and it made him sleep, he was asleep or awake and hyper. it causes many problems.
All children are different and react differently to medications. You, your child and his Dr are the best people to make decisions about his meds. Don't blindly trust the Dr. Dr's often have to experiment and try many things to get the one that works the best.

Anyone interested in becoming a parent should read your question. If you don't want the bother of dealing with children maybe you should opt for a houseplant or a Chia Pet.

You could try taking your child off of the meds and making sure he has physical activity daily.
