So many people responded to my question about "Relationships 101."

Let's say that married couples had to pass a course in parenting skills if they expected to have children and send them to public (or parochial) school. They could be given a one-time municipal tax exemption and possible future tax breaks for taking additional classes.

What would be the possible topics of some lectures in "Parenting 101?"

How about "ShopKo vs Abercrombie - real world economics."

I think parenting should be taught in school from Kindergarten all the way through high school - age appropriate of course.

They used to teach life skills (don't know if they covered ShopKo vs. Abercrombie) throughout school but don't do that enough anymore.

The reason these classes aren't offered is because people are concerned they won't be able to agree on topics/styles.

What should be covered? Discipline is a huge one, when to have kids, how many, economics, etc.

I would NEVER take a state run parenting class. The government is in the pocket of too many corporations. I reserve the right to raise my child in line with what is biologically appropriate and i could reall see the Nestle or Huggies or Circumstraint or Gerber having a real issue with that.

Damn what a stupid question.

What makes you think anyone teaching a parenting class knows what they are doing. We are talking about human beings, there are no cut and dry answers. What works on one kid won't work on his brother let alone another kid.
