He literally throws a tantrum every day about the stupidest things, does nothing he is told, picks on other kids, dissobeys his mother and calls her every name in the book, and that he hates her. This kid had done everything from cry (literally) when he doesn't get his way, has chased after his mom with knives and hammers, and even burned down his own bedroom, and he just turned 11. She tries to buy him off but it does no good. She just spent $400 the other day on him and he was completely ungrateful. She doesn't punish him (in the corner, grounding, taking things away etc) because he simply will not listen, and she won't lay a finger on him. I love her too much to just abandon the situation, but I feel I must do something. I think he needs a good old fashioned spanking (by the way, his dad, uncle, or grandpa, or anyone else for that matter will not punish him either). When I was a kid and I acted up like that, I got the belt, but the U.S. seems to P.C. for that nowadays, little help?

I was talking to my mom and she told me she never liked the Thundercats. It was our favorite show.

Now, I am the parent and I find I don't like "Fairly Odd Parents".

To all the people who said they think smacking is fine;

If all the psychiatrists, psychologists, children's services and health professionals who have spent years researching children to find that smacking is so very detrimental to emotional and social development;

Why do YOU think you know better?

I am trying to figure out what makes people want to have children, because I just don't get it. I can think of many good, logical reasons, as well as emotional reasons for not creating and being responsible for a new human being, but no one seems to have logical reasons for doing it. Everyone talks about instinct and love and wanting more meaning in life.

How can it be selfish to not want to have children, if wanting to have them is not an altruistic act? No one I've talked to can give me any un-selfish reasons to make a small version of themselves.

My 7 mo baby has just tonight started to turn himself over. Each time i have gone to check on him he has had his face buried in the mattress & his head has not been tilted to the side. I'm afraid of SIDS. I don't want to go to sleep & leave him in his cot tonight for fear of this. Any ideas/answers to my dilemma.

I'm looking for my daughter(and her mom) I haven't seen in 2 yrs. Att. Gen. ofc. wont help me. what do i do? I don't even know what city they're in. I pay child support, and we (I) have been to court 3 times. When my daughter was born, her mom said she wasn't mine, D.N.A. results said the same. 2 yrs. later, my mom is contacted by childs grandmother and says she is mine. A 2nd D.N.A. test said that she is mine. The mom let me see her regularly for about 6 mos. then the visits stopped. By this time Jessica was 2 and I was about to get married. I took her to court to set up visitation (and child support). This didn't help. After about a year, I had to hunt her down so that I could have my weekend. This lasted for about a year and a half, and was partial cause for my divorce. My daughter was 3 1/2 at the time and will be 6 yrs. old in less than a month. I miss her so much. I've tried to take her to court twice since then, she didn't show up for either. I just keep on paying and hoping.

On answering a recent question of how many times a week I have sex with my husband I said that we try and put some time aside twice a week to get some alone time. This does not generally mean sex but it is guaranteed mom and dad alone time,occasionally leading to sex or saucy foreplay. I credit this decision on both our parts, for the reason we have such a healthy and stimulating relationship with7kids and 15yrs of marriage.
With 7kids finding that kind of time is almost impossible without MAKING the time. Our kids living at home are 14,12,5,3&17months.
Is it bad that we put them aside twice/week to make some time for ourselves. My husband is a stay at home dad so we generally have all the kids in bed w/lights out by 8 o clock at least one night during the week and at the weekend the older 2 are usually with friends so we get the younger three in bed by half 7 which is normal for them anyway.
We both spend a lot of time with our kids in general,is this unfair?

Just curious...if so, where do you go? How old are your kids? Who do you leave them with? We have done a night away before, but not really a vacation.

we are a family of 6 mum and dad and 4 kids. Our 8 yr old is youngest girl followed by her brother (if its relevant), is out of control. She frequently steals from me, once she took $300- out of my purse and convinced her dad to take her to the corner store as she had pocket money, he nearly died when she pulled out all this cash, so ok i can understand she didnt understand the value of money. WE worked hard to change that, but its things like everytime she is told off, she belts her little brother up he is 5, so i then have a crying upset little boy as well. She takes food from our pantry, and its stupid things like 2 minute noodles, and then i find them under her bed or in it, and we dont buy treats as she hunts them out and finds them no matter where we hide them. My husband bought me a box of chocolates for christmas, i went out, came back and they were gone, and its the constant denial and lying i cant take, she is a very angry agressive little girl, and its affecting everyone

My daughter just turned one & recently I have been feeling a lot of pressure to have another. I'm an only child & my husband has seven siblings. I see the pros & cons of both situations, but I would like some feedback from you out there (+ & -). If you think I should have another child how many years apart should my children be? I also must add that I have vowed to not have children after the age of 25. Should I get busy or be content w/ my little angel?

have already been informed that medical care can't be given to grandchild, unless the mother has signed a medical permission form. But with sexual abuse or molestation, the faster a child is checked, the better, at least for the perpetrator.

I would like to raise a son that was very respectful and polite and did very well in school and was involved with many positive activities and was a model student who never got in trouble. But then again I know in the real world its the jerky fratboy bad boy who gets all the friends, get the hottest girls, get leadership job positions because of connections and influence, attends the best parties and overall has the better life. So what should I do? I mean lets be honest which father is the proudest - the one with the straight A student who got beat up at school or the one getting a call from the principle about their kid bullying another kid

One of our sons is 11 years old and still wets the bed. Our six year old is also a bedwetter, but the problem is not with him. At 7:00 tonight I put a diaper on both of them and before we i sent them to bed I noticed that one of kids smelled kind of funny. I called both of them over and I told them i wanted to check their diapers. I check my 6 year old and his was dry, but when I checked our 11 year old his diaper was already wet. I asked him why he wet himself and he said because he didn't feel like going into the bathroom. I was pretty upset!

We got a new diaper on him before he went to bed. But what should I do about this? It is completely crazy!!!

our 2 1/2 year old will not go to sleep unless we give him juice. this was fine when he just had a little in his cup before bed. however, it has turned into me getting up 3-4 times with him during the night on top of getting up with our baby! i am exhausted. i know it is my fault because i gave in and gave him something to drink. i just need to know if anyone has been through this and what you did that finally worked, he screamed and cried from 7-8 tonight and was back up at 9 and he is still going at it. it is 9:40. like i said before, i know it is my fault, but i need some tips before we lose it! thanks!
