my 19 month old son thinks that it is funny when ever I (his mom) try to discipline him. He will actually laugh at me if I put him in time out or try to hit me if I try to put him in his room. However if my husband is the one to do this, my son responds idealy and behaves for some time after the action. Should I be more assertive? How do I get him to take me seriously? Pluss how do people feel about light spanking (you know open hand on bottom of diapered butt)????

For my 1 year old nephew, his mother (my aunt) tells me to just ignore him when he throws things on the floor, and keep picking it back up. Well, at one meal time, for example, he'll throw his spoon or cup on the floor 20 times, and although I want to respect her parental wishes, I'm positive that it's not right. I'm not even allowed to use the word "no," "don't do that" or "we don't throw things on the floor" in his presence! How crazy is that?! Anyway, shouldn't you say something like the 3 things I listed in the previous sentence and then if he continues to throw it, just take it away from him until he learns to act right? My point is, how is he expected to differentiate between what's a game and what's not if no one even tells him what's right or wrong (she's literally NOT ONCE even told him not to throw it). He's turning into a brat and his mother does everything to accomodate his every wish. Now that he's not napping, my aunt walks around carrying him until he falls asleep

i think my baby may be tongue tied. He has trouble feeding... he will suck his bottle for about 20 secs then wriggle around and get frustrated and cry so i stop feeding him briefly. He then cries for his bottle so i give it back and he does it again. I have tried diff formula's and colic drops and all the different bottles and even all the stages of teats but nothing works. he is 5 weeks old. does this sound like he is tongue tied? What were the symptoms of feeding your tongue tied baby? (if applies to you)

I am a single mom who has recently started dating a single dad. Combined we have 6 kids! I have a 2 year old boy and a 3 year old boy. He has twin 10 year old girls, a 12 year old boy and a 20 year old boy.

We are trying to figure out some acitivies that we can all do together (mainly the 5 young kids, not the 20 old who lives away fromhome) or even just some advice from families with a span like this on how they handle things.

We know we don't have to do everythign together but would like to find something we can all enjoy. One thing we found was the beach. All the kids love that, playing in the sand etc. Great except we have a long winter where we live! Although in the winter we all love to go tobogganing so that's a good one as well.

thanks

I bought my children various games and consoles for christmas, but trying to get them to play with them for longer than an hour has been a nightmare. Night after night I try to get them to sit in front of the telly but all I hear is - Mum can we draw, Mum can we paint, there so ungrateful. Just last night I put the bratz website on for my daughter, as soon as my back was turned she had sneaked on to some site about saving rainforests, I was bloody livid. They think of nobody but their bloody selves my kids, self self self.

my mum used to make me meals and I'd be expected to eat them. Now I have kids of my own I wish I'd carried on doing this with my two. instead I've always given them a choice of what to have. Now they are a bit older they are asking for the same stuff all the time and won't try anything new. I know it's my own fault and I don't want any lectures, but has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what have you done to solve it?

I saw Happy Feet yesterday with my kids - I loved it! What a cute, beautiful movie. It was really lovely. I would see it again. My three year old has been trying to tap dance since! If you have kids...actually... even if you don't, go see it. It's excellent. Any other good movies out at the moment to take the kids to see?

Now that my son is in school, all of the kids call me Mrs. So-and-so (really, that's not my last name, but you get the idea).

I am sooooooooo not used to it, yet.

I feel like my MOTHER IN LAW should be behind me.

So I hired a nanny and was clear: I wanted someone to HELP me, not to replace me. If I am home and can do it, there's no reason why I shouldn't. Even when she's there. She's more of a backup, for when I am at work (part-time). She's really a fantastic nanny. I feel safe having her care for my daughter. The trouble is, I sometimes find that she loves my child so much that it makes me uncomfortable. NOT BECAUSE I THINK SHE WOULD DO ANYTHING BAD. But because I feel like my child is her life. She lost her husband three years ago and now has nothing except my daughter and her own children who live fairly far away. She's caring and loving, like a grandmother, but to give you an example: after the first week of working for me, and two days off, she came rushing back and told me how much she missed my daughter. She also sometimes refers to my daughter as her own baby. For example, "I'm going to check on my baby." "I'm going to change my baby." Is this weird?

The website is http://giftsforteenboys.sitesled.com/
And I was wondering if this website depicts teen boys correctly.
Do not worry it is not a naughty site, other have told me they thought this.

My boys are 6 and 10 and they are best friends. But, they fight constantly. Everyone tells me it's just brothers... but that doesn't make it easier for me to deal with. They are driving me crazy arguing over anything and everything. Help!
