There is such a thing as a tongue tied baby.
Check under your babies tongue if the skin that runs down to the bottom of the mouth is too close to the edge of the tongue than your baby may not be able to stick his tongue out enough to grasp the nipple. Ask your doctor about it. All 3 of my nephews and my neice had this problem. It can be fixed.

I had a really difficult time feeding my tongue tied baby. Your situation sounds very familiar. Her tongue was identified as tied at birth and the membrane was cut the next morning. However, it took some time to strengthen the relevant muscles and to get her to even poke her tongue out. I struggled with breast feeding to around 5 weeks and then changed to the bottle when she wasn't putting on weight. My baby also had reflux and this was eventually resolved with a thickened formula. Feeding her only became a pleasure around 10 months when I guess she was finally strong enough to cope with it. Until then it was a pretty sad time for both of us.

they gained't decrease it until he's 3 months previous? that's atypical; this is a approaches much less annoying than a circumcision and that they try this interior the 1st week! I certainly have an acquaintance who's son replaced into tongue-tied and that they clipped it as quickly as they chanced on the priority, around 2 weeks. They have been (and nevertheless are) nursing with achievement after the clip. i could see a pair of 2d opinion. stable success.

My son was tongue tied... had to have his tongue clipped (it effected his speech). I never had a problem feeding him though.
Is the baby gaining weight like he should? If you are seriously concerned about this have the doctor examine him.

You need to try to encourage your child to stick his tongue out so you can look at it. Lay him in your lap and stick your tongue out at him. Sounds funny, but if you do this a few times then he'll do it back to you. If he is tongue tied, when he extends his tongue it will have a "heart shape" to the tip and he will probably not be able to extend his tongue beyond his gum line.

I dont think theres such a thing as a tongue tied baby. Check the nipple. It might have a blockage in it, or maybe its too big and he's getting to much at a time. If you still have problems, then I would call his doctor and see what the cause could be.

Is he gaining weight well?
When I read questions about how a child is having a difficult time with nursing, it concerns me that there may be a problem with his nasal passage ways, something making it difficult for him to breathe while he is also nursing.
Have your doctor examine him closely for something obstructing his nasal passageway, just to be on the safe side.
Best wishes!
