For how long do you breastfeed a child?

For as long as the child and you both want, and as long as you are lactating. Those things generally work out together. You say you think two years is much too old. Then for you it is.

However, I'm curious on just what you base your thought about that age being too old? I recommend a mother not deny her child the benefits of mother's milk and the bonding aspect of nursing. I've known a couple of moms who breastfed their child until they began preschool at age four, and it was something both wanted and worked for them.

Basically, it's different strokes for different folks.

And as for starting to talk, meaningful words between 18 and 30 months. Again, your mileage may vary.

I'd say no less than 6 months. I think how long is up to the mother.
personally I'll stop when they get teeth and/or start biting. I know some mothers still breastfeed when their child has teeth and aren't bit. my kids are going to be half bottle (for their father and when I'm not with them) and half breast.

some kids start talking around 9 months or so. some it take a bit more time

Hi Mrs D,
Normally a child should be breast feed for two years or one and half years depending on your child's health.
On your second question, children normally start talking at the age of around three or four years.

You can breast feed your child for as long as you feel comfortable. They normally start talking at about 1 and a half but some even earlier. Mine only started @ 2 years.

Some of the "la Leche Leage" moms breast feed up until the baby started school. About age 3 or 4 is good. Some babies start to talk or try to repeat words at 6 months and other do not talk until they are two years old. If you talk to the baby while feeding it you can teach it the alphabet and numbers very young.

Hi:
An answer to your first question:
"The most common reason mothers probably choose to breastfeed is the knowledge that human milk is the superior infant food. It contains live cells, like those in blood. Some components of human milk also enhance the effects of others, so the ingredients of human milk work together. In contrast, only a small percentage of some ingredients of formula are absorbed; mixing ingredients in formula does not guarantee they will act together the way they do in human milk."

Obviously the length of breastfeeding is a personal preference. I breastfed my kids until they self-weaned at 8 1/2 months. I would have stopped it by the age of 1 as I feel it is unnecessary after that. You will also see people defending breastfeeding their preschoolers because in other countries that what they do. There are countries that have no indoor plumbing either but you aren't going to see me going outside and digging a whole to go to the bathroom because that is how they do it.

The age children talk varies.

You can breastfeed as long as you want to but I think if you are really going to give it a go then you should do it for at least 6 months but the longer the better (until they start self weaning or start eating solids). Babies usually start to say their first words around 1 year.

properly, that's a controversy! provide breast milk on your new child as long as you sense he or she desires it, yet take them from the breast with tips from age one. you could pump and positioned it in a cup. purely my opinion, of direction. I on no account breast fed because of the fact i replaced into no longer soft with it and that i've got 4 very healthful and emotionally bonded young infants! They have been weaned from bottle to cup at around age a million year.

i think 18 months is long enough for the lil bub to get the benifits of breast milk, and i see no need after that, only that the child maybe using the boob for comfort. but is easily weaned.
talking does vary but looking at my nephew, started talking 18 mth - 2 yr, now he is 2 and 4 mth and he doesnt shut up!!
