My parent's care way to much about me. I want my parents to stop asking have you finished your work? Or if I haven't finished an asignment they both keep telling me "Start working on _______, or you'll ______" I really dislike them and I want them yo stay out of my life. My mom keeps bugging me to call my friends back if they call, or to call my friend about something and I HATE IT. They just don't understand I don't want to talk to them! I hate calling people. But baiscly, my parents care to much about me and I want them to stop caring.

Ok- my parents and many others are always saying that I cannot do things that they could because "it was safer when I was a kid"
Ok-
the murder rate is no higher than 40 years ago.
Cars have gotten SAFER, not more dangerous (seatbelts werent around back then)
yes teen pregnancy is up from back then, but it has gone down for the past 5 years straight.
Drugs and smoking are LESS of a problem. (hippies=druggies)
Rapes, abductions, etc. have not increased, only the media coverage has.

Look at statistics. This is NOT a card that parents sohuld be playing.
The population, and therefor risks, are up, but it's the SAME PROBABILITY. the number of murders are up, but in proportion to the population, they are way down. It's true for everything else, too.

What do you think?/Some other evidence

how would you discipline them if they hit someone? Would you spank them then - after telling them that hitting is wrong?

Just curious.

I just got back from a McDonalds Playland and, again, am furious. My 3 yrs old and 1 yr old were playing nicely enjoying the playland. More kids came in. Some too big and too old to be playing there. They bullied my 3 yr old and ran over my 1 yr old. They were throwing toys up and down the slide and climbing on everything. The parents did NOTHING. My boys were then too scared to play anymore, but didn't want to leave either. When I finally caught the one mother's attention she gave me the "kids will be kids" shurg and I wanted to slug her. I let my kids play, get dirty and have fun. I don't let my kids hurt others, disobey safety rules and disrespect others. Why is this okay?

My 15 year old daughter likes to sleep with my husband and I (not in the same bed, but the floor next to our bed). She says that she is lonely, and I don't know what to do. Is this normal? Shedoesn't hang out with her friends on weekends, but she usually hangs out with my husband and I.

I sat down to talk to her, and she says she likes sleeping in the same room with someone.

Is this normal? She's a really smart girl, excellent student, and everything, but I have never heard of a teenager sleeping with their parents.

My husbands controlling ex has managed to plan an out of town vacation during the time he was suppose to get them for Christmas, so we haven't had Christmas with them yet. Technically, next weekend is her time with them, so we may not even see them for 2 more weeks. I do not want to keep this tree up for another 2 weeks. My toddler and my cat are both constantly pulling ornaments off it, so I really want to go ahead and take it down. But I keep debating over whether or not I should keep it up until my stepkids come over for Christmas.

My professor said that children from single family homes are more likely to not pursue education or really do anything with their lives, than kids from a home w/ both parents. I disagree. I've seen plenty of people from single parent homes just as determined to do something w/ their lives, as kids from homes with both parents.

I have three young children (10, 8, and 5). 2 boys and a girl. They are always extremely messy. They will not clean up their rooms without a huge fight, and they certainly don't try to keep them clean. They also leave various messes (food mostly) in other parts of the house. It is like they don't care at all how messy it gets.

My wife and I have tried punishing them (mostly by taking away privileges and not letting them go outside to play), but if anything, it has gotten worse instead of better.

Any suggestions as to what my wife and I should or shouldn't do? Personally, I am about ready to throw all of their stuff out in the yard or in the trash.
