Job related? Family? Close to the beach/mountains/city? Etc...

And how much thought did you put into it before you actually moved there?

I had a good friend from out of State call me tonight and told me a story of her and husband out at dinner earlier this evening. Another couple there in the restaurant had a 3 mo old that choked on a small piece of food...the child was fine, but the parent's did not know CPR or the Heimlich Manuever to dislodge the piece of food.
It raises the question of whether parent's when in the hospital or whatever place they have their children should be taught these lifesaving procedures before they leave with their infants?
Personally, I feel the answer is yes. What would have happened to this baby tonight if that had happened in their home? It would have taken critical time for EMS services to show up and could have been the difference between life and death or serious injury to the brain due to lack of oxygen if the parent's hadn't been able to get it dislodged.

I have a friend who became a father. Him and his ex-girlfriend aren't on speaking terms. He does want to be in his child's life despite having difficulty getting along with his ex.

They know that they will not get married. What can he do to be in his child's life despite the problems with his ex?

I have a child (almost 3 yrs old) who has a hard time sleeping at night. About 5 times a week, he wakes up at 2 or 3am and will not go back to sleep. I sit with him, read to him, and even just leave him alone to see if he will go back to sleep. He only takes an hour nap at his day care, and goes to bed at 8:30 or 9:00pm.
Lately, he just fights me to go sleep. He hits, kicks, screams, and he even tried biting me once...what do I do? I have spanked him before because he just will not listen to me. Does anyone have any ideas?? Please help!!

My cousin just moved into a new house. In the few months that she has lived there, she has heard some very high pitched sounds coming from her neighbor's place. She's pretty sure its one of her neighbor's kids shrieking, but isn't absolutely certain that its a potential abuse situation and not the kid laughing (sounds stupid, but I can see how that might be a tough call to make). She hasn't had much contact with her neighbor, and doesn't want to ask anout this situation. I don't know what to tell her. If this lady is abusing her children, the authorities should be contacted. But if the authorities are contacted and there is an inocuous explaination, this whole family's lives will be turned upside down. What would you do in this case? Try to find out more information? Talk to the neighbor? Contact Social Services and let the chips fall where they may? I would really appreciate some opinions on this.

Thanks

My son told me that her is starting to like this girl. He then told me that she is of a different race. Should I meet her first or just tell him not to do this.

I have twin 10-year-old boys (4th grade). They're so cute cause they are going through a little bit of a "cool" stage. Anyway, they still believe in Santa. I tried to tell them that I was the toothfairy but they shot me down 2x and I realized that maybe they aren't ready??? My friend finally told her 11 year old son and they had a horrible Christmas afterwards. Someone told me not to tell them, to let them figure it out on their own. What did you do?

for the past 4 or so months i have been babysitting for free a good friends child (2 years old). Her husband left her and she had to go back to work or loose everything, and isn't coping all to well with the changes, looks drained etc. But i can't babysit anymore, (i have 3 year old tiwns and am pregnant with a 3rd child) its getting too difficult and the child is having a big boost of the terrible two's. I feel so bad, (coz whats one more child right?), but its too much at this point of time. Whats the best way to go about this, is it rude too look for another babysitter for her and tell her i've found a replacement, i don't just want to leaver her without anyone.

-feeling so bad for her and guilty that i can no longer help out in this way.

At lunch, me and my friend were arguing in the washroom about whether or not it's a good idea to put a boy in ballet. I said it'd be very cool and trendy, but my friend said that it's gonna turn the kid gay. And then she said that her future kid, Fat Hank was gonna beat up my future kid who will be in ballet. So what do you think? About putting a boy in ballet?

It makes me feel sad for the child because their parent or parents might not live so long. My parents are big and now they're diabetic with high blood pressure and cholesterol. Luckily me and my siblings are thin and healthy.

After reading other questions-Some believe non-vaxed kids can give their kid illnesses? If you vaccinate your children, don't you think those vaccines will protect them from this?

I have a ten year old son. He has a stomach bug right now. and I was wondering when I should get worried about
Dehydration. he started vomiting yesterday in the afternoon. He can't hold anything down. and I tried the tablespoon an hour thing. He was vomiting with that too. Although it was mostly dry heaving. He was crying about being thirsty so I stopped the process. I don't know whether I should make a dr. appt. he has no fever . What do you recomend what do I look for regarding dehydration. I bought him some pedialyte popsicles.and wonder if I should start the tablespoon thing again. Any thoughts?

I ruined my 10 year old son's Christmas shirt today. He had one gift card for the holiday, and he chose a very nice, button down shirt from Abercrombe that was on clearance. I was very proud of him because he picked it out instead of some ragged t-shirt or something. Anyway, I ruined it in the wash, then ran out and bought the last one in his size from the clearance rack. Why am I feeling bad? I was planning on washing it and hanging it in his closet like nothing ever happened. Do you think my husband would be mad that I bought the same shirt again? What would you have done???

How much should you pay a sitter who babysits three nights a week for twelve hours overnight for children ages 8,9, and 2. I expect the sitter to tell them to go to bed after 8pm, and wake them up at 6am for school, give them a bowl of ceral and tell them when to leave to catch the bus. Would it be fair to ask them to accept a state payment since I am a single parent? Where can I find a sitter who would be willing to work overnite, and these hours in the champaign, illinois area?

My 4 year old has way more energy than I can handle in 1 day. She is out of school now and the toys are not enough. I need some activities that can keep her busy for a really long time.
