Our son who is in 7th grade stayed overnight at a friends house this weekend. His friend is in 5th grade and when he got home he told me he had a good time, but he pointed out that his friends mother had them take a bath together before bedtime on saturday night. He said it was fun but he didn't expect it. Our 7th grader is still physically immature and is about the same size as his friend.

Should I say something to his friends mom or should I just let it go?

I have been called to jury duty even after filling out the form stating that I am breastfeeding. My daughter is 16 months old and still nurses VERY frequently during the day. I am the only person available to care for her during the day. I have to write a letter explaining that why I cannot serve. I plan on including a note from our family practioner as well as from my OBGYN stating that a sudden separation could lead to mastitis and be traumatic for us both. I would like some ideas for what I could include in the letter. Also has anyone in this situation been successfully excused? I live in Michigan.

ok ..two years ago my ex's , uncle went crazy and cut the throat of a 4 yr old girl and the throat of her 24 yr old mother and raped her.both dead .Since then we had a baby together and then split up. she took me to court and racked up a ton of legal fee's and got nothing, anyway now she is telling me she is going to move to that trailer with another uncle of hers no less so that she can save money to pay off her lawyer fee from trying to gain full custody of our child . we have joint custody now - her ploys backfired on her if anything and she get less then what i offered in the first place . i know that doesnt have anything to do with my question but it makes me feel vindicated.
My question is - should i not have a problem with her moving into the murder death trailor, i just keep wonder what room my son will get - the room the 4 yr old was killed or the room her mother was killed and raped - and yes i do mean killed and raped. as you might be able to tell by my tone i am againstit

I am a single mother of 15 year old boy and 11 year old girl. Both kids are very affectionate to me. Is it weird or abnormal for my 15 year old to lay his head in my lap or on my shoulder? Sometimes he will lie down next to me on the couch. I don't see a problem, but my long time boyfriend thinks that this is totally abnormal behavior.

I am a SAHM with 3 children ages- 2months, 2 years, and 4 years old. I wake up at 7:30 am and my feet don't get off of the ground until about 11 pm. I only have 5 minutes on the computer right now for some time to myself and take care of some business. I really need to lose weight for my own health and happiness. What do you do lose wieght and get into shape with parenting and home making being so busy?

This past holiday we went to visit my husbands family. I hadn't met his brothers, but I'd met his sister once.

The first thing his mother did when his sister got to their house was call me over and hand me the baby. After, awhile I put the baby down. Then when the brothers got their with the wives and kids. They started doing the exact same thing.

This went on for a few hours, until I started to walk around.

I felt really uncomfortable, because they didn't really talk to me. Just handed me the kids.

Then his mother said that they wanted to send of the 3 year olds, to us to visit. Well, we live 3000 miles away and we both work.

Is this what inlaws do? We just got married and aren't thinking about a family. We are both young and work.

Is this what I should expect everytime we visit?

fear does not equal respect?

Saying, "don't hit them on the face and don't leave marks" sounds like you took it straight from the How to Abuse your Loved One Without Getting Caught manual. A little sad isn't it?

we have 4 kids..26 18 13 11...my wife and i had an arguement 2 days ago because it was midnight and i wanted my kids( only the 11 and 13 year olds) in bed...to diffuse ..i have tried to talk to her without any success...i feel lonely as i feel in one circle and the rest of my famly in the other..Tonight they have gone off to play bowling....at the very last minute my eldest asked me to join them.....should i go knowing our orignal arguement has not been resolved?..even though the original issue was to do with the kids i feel the underlying problem has to be lack of unity with our original issue...what are my kids thinking about me right now?....Should my wife have waited and resolved our arguemet before them going?..Has she made it worse?...what will my kids think of me if i dont go?...Do they (my wife and kids) really want me there ? will it make the situation worse?..Please help

for those who're parents who allow your kids to say "Duuh" when they're asked a question- *Why* do you allow that?

I think in recent years, it's been "cool" to say it & generally accepted, but I happen to think it is Such a rude, disrespectful thing to say to adults.

What gives??

Couple of days ago, I was on a long flight, and there was a small kid on the plane who started crying when the plane took off. Usually, screaming kids bug the hell out of me, but this time, I could relate, because the kids ears hurt because of the pressure change. However, the mom was not as sympathetic as the other travelers. The woman first let the kid cry for 15 minutes without giving him gum or hard candy that can alleviate the pain (even after the flight attendant offered her both sugarfree gum and candy).
Then the mom got annoyed, took the kid's pants off and started spanking the poor kid, and kept doing it for about 10 minutes, until the kid was blue in the face Of course, the kid screamed even more, because he was in even more pain.
I disagree with spanking in general, but I thought this was especially disgusting, because the kid had not done anything
I could not take it anymore, so I finally yelled at the woman to stop. Was I rigt to do that, or did I meddle too much?

I feel like the worst person in the world right now...I am a mom with sole custody of 2 boys and my husband also has sole custody of his 3 children from his first marriage. For 2 1/2 years I have raised all 5 kids as my own. They are young and it's very difficult but for 2 years I have loved it and embraced the challenges. I no longer can do it. I have no family or friends nearby to help, my husband works 50+ hours a week and when he IS home his attention is only focused on his kids. As a result my 2 sons have no father figure and they are forced to share their mother. I've noticed my sons becoming depressed. I've pleaded with my husband to include my kids in his life but he doesn't seem to be capable of it, although he does help financially. I feel like the time has come to do 1 of 2 things: 1-insist my husband take responsibility for his own children or 2-leave the marriage. Is number 1 even an option? If so, how can I inform my husband that the balance of responsibility must change?

The baby is not his. A little background. He has supervised visits due to his alcoholism and abuse/neglect issues he had with our girls when they were in his care. I offer to supervise his visits, as well as his mom or sisters, but my youngest hates hanging out with his new g/f and her son when they are with her dad. The g/f works at walmart and anytime alice sees her there she is very happy and even seeks her out. The g/f hates me, for whatever reason and the atmosphere is tense to say the least when we are all together. Which is probably why alice dislikes it so much.

I don;t want to subject my child to spending time with people she doesn;t want to. When her dad is on his own and comes to visit or when we go to his place to visit and he is alone my daughter is fine and very happy to see her dad, as long as i am there with her. How can I make him understand that his visitation is for him alone, when i am the one supervising.
