I always told them the truth but they were welcome to play/pretend if they wanted to. But they always heard the truth from the beginning. This worked out well because there was no horrible let down later. And they were taught not to ruin it for others that wanted to believe.

I was brought up believing in Santa, the Easter Bunny, etc. I have no problem and I did not feel it a let down when i learned the truth. In fact, I still believe, though my beliefs on the subject have dramatically changed from when I was a kid.
I believe it is actually good. I believe it helps to foster faith in children. As they grow older and begin to learn the truth for themselves, it makes it easier to transition that belief towards a true faith in God and in Jesus Christ. If Santa and the Easter Bunny really did exist as we tell them in the stories, they would be servants of Jesus Christ since it is events surrounding the life and death of Jesus Chris that the holidays of Christmas and Easter commemorate.

It is so fun being a kid....If I had the chance I would probaly go back to being a kid...LOL!!! I think it is fine telling kids about the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause, The tooth Fairy....ect... It is fun for them and they enjoy trying to spot those characters. I wasn't upset with my parents for "lying" to me about it....It just made me feel more grown-up, which at that time I was trying to be! So I don't know why we do it, but I am glad we do!

Because life is long and you're only a child once... and if Parents take part in making those early years magical, it's good for the parents and the children.
My kids never accused me of "lying" to them about Santa... well.. not seriously anyway.. *LOL* We had a good laugh about it, and now we have fun all playing "santa" to one another..

Because it's fun for kids to have something to believe in to add some excitement to their life. Childhood...when they stop believing that's for them to decide not us,children need to enjoy their childhood while they can because it doesn't last long at all.
