Hello. i am giving a speech soon for a large group of mothers. My topic is bringing the fun back into parenting/fun ideas to do at home with children. There are MANY ideas rolling around in my head. Do you think mommies will be willing to stand up and join me for a quick game or song, etc. to demonstrate how fun parenting can be?? THANK YOU

I have a friend at work, she had her first baby 9 months ago and thinks her baby is the cutest in the world. She obviously thinks that because she is the baby's mother because the baby is NOT cute at all.

When other people bring in their kids, she says things like, "Your baby is cute, but not as cute as mine!" or she goes and grabs pictures of her baby to show the other parents that her baby is cute too. When someone leaves the room with their baby she will say, "My baby is so much cuter".

I just feel this is rude and just because she gave birth to the kid doesn't mean its better, cuter, smarter, etc. than everyone else's babies.

Is she an egomaniac as a parent?

I am 24 yrs old and have been married twice already. My parents could not stand my first hubby who i met while in college at a club where he was an ultimate fighter.I fell head over feel and eloped with him after 3 months.Problems were numerous to say the least he had never graduated from highschool and he was participating in illegal fights to make ends meet.My parent continued to pay for my college tuition but cut off all ties with me and when i graduated college i was 3 months pregnant. After i gave birth to my daughter he became violent and in a fight with me over money broke my jaw.I divorced him and married my divorce lawyer who i thought i was in love with that marriage lasted only a year an half before i found out he was a womanizer and a con-man.I have a three year old daughter and am living in a one bedroom studio in NY.I lost a lot of money thanks to my ex. husband who stole from me.I want to ask my parents if i can come home but dont know how?

You discover that your wonderful one-year-old child is, because of a mix-up at the hospital, not yours. Would you want to exchange the child to correct the mistake?

How would I go about changing my 4 year old daughter's last name to that of mine and my husband? Her real father passed away before she was born. Where do I even start. We are not looking for him to adopt her but just a name change. Thanks!!

I just turned 23 years old and have a 2 year old daughter and I am 24 weeks pregnant. I am currently in school full time (i graduate in May with a Psych/Soc degree) and I work part time. Growing up I had always wanted kids but I'm not the mom i always thought i would be and even though i know this I don't change it or no how. (I don't hit my child or anything like that) i just wish i did things with her or was more patience. I know I have a busy schedule but when I'm homw I don't know how to find the enegry or desire to interact and do the tings i had always planned on doing. I feel so guilty and hate myself half the time.

I am a dad of seven meaning I always have to make sure that my punishments are consistent so as not to show favortism to one child in particular. However over the years I have learnt that different techniques work with different kids. Some of my kids respond best to spankings and others to their priveledges being taken away. BUT is a one minute spanking any comparison to a three week ban on the t.v or phone. A friend of mine found herself in a similar position, she spanks her six year old daughter but not her ten year old son and found that he was getting more of a punishment than his younger sister for similar misbehaviour. She now makes more out of the spanking so that her son knows that it too is a bad punishment. When her 6yr old is bad she sends her to her room for ten minutes and tells her to wait for her spanking, she then outs her daughter over her knee oulls her panties down and spanks her 18 times(3 times her age). After that she allows her daughter to pull up her panties but

I can hear the laughter now........but seriously!! My oldest son is such a pig, and my next oldest is so clean. I always have made them pick up their messes and put things away, but the last couple of years have been horrible. Do you have any incintives you give your teenage son (verses money because that just doesn't seem to do the trick anymore)? Help please!!

Because spankings, even if given by parents who love their children, are unquestionably intended to cause pain. No one can deny it's physical violence.

A girl I have been friends with for years told me an embellished account of something that happened with my daughter at school. I questioned my child and she repeatedly denied the story, so I spoke with the teacher. The teacher did some investigating and determined that what I had been told was somewhat true, but expanded to seem much worse than it actually was. This same "friend" is know as a town gossip and is always comparing material things and the success of her children in comparison to others. She also made me promise not to say a word, but, hello? I am a concerned and involved mother so I just could not let it go without doing some questioning of my own. So, I saw this same lady at school when dropping of my daughter and she put on her sunglasses and turned her head. I know that eventually we will confront one another. Do I call her now and call her out on her lie or should I wait or perhaps just let it die? What do you think?

When I was in Junior High, I had a teacher that really made me feel weird--there was just something about him that I never liked from day one. This is going to be lengthy, but I want to give all the details so that you can make a fair judgement here.

I went to a private (Christian) school, and all my teachers were wonderful. Of course, they had their moments like all teachers, but for the most part they were really great--except for one teacher. It was his first time teaching at a school, but he had worked alot with youth in the past. He was the husband of one of the other teachers at my school (she was my 4th grade teacher). Since my classmates and I really liked his wife, we figured we'd really like him too. He was fun and made class interesting, but as time went on I felt more and more uncomfortable around him. He did things that would either creep me out, scare me, or just make you go "What the heck?"

I leave my toddler with a friend whilst i work part time a couple of times a week, we have been close friends for the past 3 years or so. Yesterday another friend of ours saw my friend hit my son whilst in the street. He was crying and she walked off and left him to go into a shop. My husband and i are both very upset and will not be leaving him in her care again. What would you do? I feel its my fault, i should have known.

My daughter is 17 and seems to have her father on a pedal stool.I always try and down play what he is really like and not bad mouth him but that does not work.I met her father when i was18 in college and he got me pregnant my second year and bailed after i gave him back the money he had given me for an abortion. He did not even pay child support or even meet her till i was 30 and we met up by chance after my first divorce. We decided to try and make it work her father and i the marriage lasted 3 yrs.The divorce was nasty he had cheated on me while i was pregnant with his second child. The man is a bit of a con artist and even went to prison for 5 yrs for white collar crimes! He has never shown any real intrest in his daughter and has not seen her since the divorce 3 yrs ago.I have contacted him for child support and he pays but the only child he ever brings up in conversations is his son!

My kids wear underware during the day, and pull-ups at night.
I understand that it's common sense to say... when they wake up dry. But I'm asking from people who know from siblings or their own children..... What is the AGE GROUP I should be expecting them to grow out of pull-ups at night?

You learn your children when they say they are 'somewhere' to stay there until you come to pick them up.That's why they shouldn't be allowed to stay alone(at home or somewhere) because in emergency they will know they HAVE TO stay where they are and won't safe themselves. You should LET them be people!

We have 4 children 26,17,13,11. and have been married for 25 years. My wife and i get on like a house on fire except for our approach to discipline with with our kids. Our eldest lost in way at 16...whereby he got into trouble with the police and started taking cocaine stole from us....This should have been a wake up call...this has made me more "strict "with my other 3....and god bless they are respectful...polite "normal" kids....but feel they still need to be guided further to be better people...My heart tells me they wont grow up into addicts...but also when i try ans say something to my kids they have an attitude with me..is this Divide and rule?....Are this signs of further problems later on in their lives?...how can i unite my wife behind me without attavhing blame...make her see what we are doing to our kids?...i always say to my wife that her relation with the kids is affecting my relation with her....do i love the kids less?...she makes be believe that...:(...HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
