Need Advice and second opinion?
So me and my bf been together for 3 1/2 years, since i was 15, for the last 8 mo. we have been in the process of breaking up,still tryin to hold on the the little bit of love thats left, so i packed my bags and went to hawaii to live and really think about what i wanted out of life... not promising to come back but not saying i wont. 2 months in to me leaving i find out i am 10 weeks pregnant.
so we talked about trying to work things since things arnt all about us...it worked for maybe a cuple days but i jus realized i just dont want to be with this man well i should say boy any longer, ive grown up and hes still the same person i met when i was 15.
there is no way we can work this out, there is no trust or respect in this relationship, i dont belive i can ever trust him again ive been trying for ever but he jus keeps giving me more and more reason to dis trust him
why wont he try to get his stuff 2gether not 4 me 4 our child? and should i try to raise my child by myself?

My wife and I will be having a child soon and we do not want to move to the suburbs. Do you think Chicago (mainly on the North side - Edgewater area) is a good environment to raise a child in? We feel safe but is it safe for children? Are Chicago schools good? Should we send our child to a private school...any recommendations?

Everyone has been super informative. Ok if you haven't read my other questions, I"m dealing a situation where my boyfriend fathered a 5 month old son (yes dna test was given) the mother is on welfare, has one 5 year old son, and is now pregnant with twins, she will before the birth be married to the father of the twins. If my boyfriend decides to sign over his rights, I know the child support payments will continue, though if her new husband adopts him (which was an option given to him by the mother) will that change the situation?

I want to know if those evangelical parents out there REALLY think that the only reason CPS would come to the door is if you're beating or excessively yelling at your child?? CPS is insane. I counselled a woman who had her 2 year old taken from her for having him living in 'undesirable living conditions'.. when what had happened was she went to her mother's for a few days and when she came back, she found out her husband had a party while she was gone, and hadn't cleaned up the mess when she got back. A repair man saw the mess and called CPS.. they took her son for 3 months.. CPS is insane.. and you don't just have to be beating your kids to be afraid of them. Do people really think that??

I have an ad on Craigslist, and I can't afford the newspaper. Any other ideas? Even places to put flyers would help. Thanks!

If you raise your kids in a way that is healthy then there is no reason to fear that Child Protective Services will take them away from you. If you do fear that, maybe you need to re-evaluate your parenting.

I don't spank and have very well behaved children. I refuse to parent my kids with the cloud of CPS hanging over my head. Anybody else?

I am asking because I received an answer to a previous question about parents worrying so much about what others think of their parenting, the answer basically said you have to worry about it because of CPS...i personally think that is bull****.

Where can I find out facts about what is proven to be better, for a child to stay home with a parent or have a babysitter/nanny for your child at a very young age (under one) Does anyone know any studies done. What effects does it have on child development if he is with a babysitter?
Thanks

I am 28 weeks pregnant and I am dreading having the baby, not because of pain or fear of it, because my husbands family smoke like chimineys and I know after they hold the baby (do hospitals let EVERYONE hold the newborn?) that my baby is going to smell like an ashtray. And then when I say something it will cause a HUGE issue, is theyre anyway a nurse or doctor could tell them they cant hold the baby? And them not know it is my request? I just dont think I should have to think that my newborn stinks like a chain smoker that is rediculous right or wrong?

I see it all the time on here a parent says that the step mom spanked the child or put them on punishment or said they need birth control and the parent thinks the step parent shouldnt have any say. Well if the kid lives with the step parent then I say they should have some say as they are the primary caretaker of the child. If the children come to thier house for the week end then they are still the primary caretakers of the kids during that time frame and as a result should have some say.

I am a mom of 7, my 2step daughters are 18&17&dont live at home, then I have a 14yrold son,12yrold daughter and 3boys aged 5,3&17months.As you can imagine taking all five or even four to the grocery store is a big job,I can't leave the older two at home alone so it has to be done.I usually put the three younger boys on a wrist harness together and it worksokay at least I have them by my side. Recently my 12yr old has started acting up in the supermarket running around getting her brother to chase her and teasing the younger ones on the strap.I ended up spanking her 2weeks ago for this behavior and decided to put her on the strap with the younger kids.I am heavily pregnant and felt she pushed me to the limit. She doesn't seem to care that she is on the strap like the babies but when we met her friend shopping the other day I could see she was embarrassed. Is this just humiliating her or Is it achieveing the desirable and teaching her that if she acts like a baby she will be treated as one?

my nephew is only two months old and he cries beyond feeling sleepy, hungry, or wet. its a cry that sounds like someone is hurting him or has. and when he cries he has full tears! if you hold him in your arms he screams even louder and its very difficult to quiet him down, the only way is to shake a toy rattle in front of him. I think his mother, my brother's girlfriend has been beating him. i hope not, but what do you think and how could i calm him down?

I am planning to be getting marryed in june.I have a son and my boyfriend has a daughter. He is good to my son. I work late so he picks him up from the sitters he feeds him, bathes him, teaches him right from wrong. My problem is this: My sons dad is not in the picture so I want my boyfriend to take on that role but when ever his daughter asks him to play with her, help her color,or whatever, even when she doesnt ask he follows her around like a puppy. On the other hand when my son asks for his time he usually says "later" and then never gets around to doing it. I have told him my concerns and its like he doesnt even hear me. He thinks that I dont want him spending any time with his daughter which is not what I say.I say that I want him to treat both children equally, like I do.I dont want my son growing up and feeling like hes 2nd to the other child.Am I approaching the situation wrong with him or what?

Help!! My son is my third child and you would think I would know better. To avoid waking the whole house at night I have always run to him when he crys, picked him up and gave him a bottle. Now I have created a monster!! I have never been one to let my children cry for any prolonged periods of time. How else can I break him?? I am in desperate need of an uninterupted nights sleep. He wakes 2-3 times between 7pm and 5am.

in the car or other places alone. there is no point in teaching them about strangers when you dont leave them alone in the car or other places. when they are 13 teach them about strangers not to talk to them because that is the age where they can be left alone in the car

I am 33 yrs old and my husband is 39.This is my third marriage (but i married same man twice) and i have two children twins daughter and son that are 9 yrs old from my last marriage. My husband has 3 children from his previous marriage ages 15 , 10 , and 7.We have a 5 bedroom 4 bathroom home that is fairly large with dinning room , family room, kitchen, hubby has a den that leads to an office, basement and a living room. You think this would be enough space for when the my step-children come over on the weekends but it is not! They fight like cats and dogs with my kids over everything. The recent issue was the eldest step daughter who is 15 refusing to share a room.I told her she could not sleep in the den because its being remodled she threw a fit!she made my daughter cry when she told her i was a whore and her brothers would rape her when they got older. Then she borrowed my favorite Prada bag without asking and brought it back looking like it had been in Iraq!I need advice?

i was wondering, if i should happen to get a husband someday, would he need my childs real fathers written permission to adopt him? his real father has no contact with him, i am the sole guardian of my son. as far as child support, my sons real father won't pay it. i know if it came to the real father being asked permission, he would say 'no' just to be an a@#hole.

When my mother in law has a party she invities a lot of people. The people bring their grandchildren or children and drop them off where I am. I have a 2 yr old and an 9 month old. My hands are full. Then I have to take care of a 2 more 2 yr olds and a 4 yr old and my little sister in law. I hardly have anytime to enjoy the party or eat, I more worried about their stomachs than mines. I chase them all around and I hardly see their grandparents or parents. I'm a nuturing person, but my husband gets mad that I am taking care of these children and that their family members should be doing it. These people depend on me. She said out loud that "katrina's got them taken care of" The children are very demanding and my son likes to play alone. I love to play with the children, but my children come first. I just cannot not go to the party. What should I do? They praise me and say I am such a good mom, but I just want to be a mom to my own sometimes.
