I have a an 11 year old daughter and a 12 year old son. They fight ALL the time. It seems to be some sort of power struggle. I am a single mom and don't know how to best handle it. Do I stay out of it and let them handle it? Being a referee gets very emotionally exhausting. They yell at eachother and call eachother names quite frequently. What do I do? they are supposed to love eachother, not hate.

I'm almost 7 months pregnant now. My 9 yr old daughter and I were at the book store. We sat down to look at the books that caught our attention. Of course I was looking at a pregnancy book and she asked me where does the baby come out. She's never seen an actual childbirth on TV or in person for that matter, so in the most simplest of terms I told her that a baby comes out of the woman's "privates". She didn't believe me, then she asked where exactly down there. I explained where vaginal canal was located and attempted to decribe it unsuccessfully. She thought I was referring to where #2 comes out.
After that I promised that I would find a good book that would assist me in explaining all of this to her, because I wasn't doing a very good job obviously and I did not want to confuse her any further. This is is the reason I've come here today to ask you, how do you explain all of this in a way a child can understand it?

Isn't it time to worry more about you and whats good for YOUR families health and wellbeing then being concerned about what sally jo thinks of the way you are raising your kids? Of course everybody is going to have an opinion, who doesn't...but who says you have to tailor your parenting skills around what others think, isn't that a waste of time?

I went to a party on new year's eve to new years day, and this woman had 3 children a 7 yr old girl a 3 yr old girl and a 5 month old boy. When I went there at 8 the baby boy was on the couch sitting in his carseat. Dangerous of course. From 8 to about 1am I was taking care/playing with her children including mines. When they would ask her something they would distance themselves away from her, and if they did something wrong like not throw their cup away or bring a barbie to the living room they would get beaten..severly. The children don't even have bed sheets. With my children I nutured them and when they sleep I take them to bed and tuck them in, like a mother should! When my 2yr old was standing by the front door he got hit by it when someone opened the door, I gave him a hug and the mother said I shouldn't do that, Tough love she said. Aren't we suppose to nuture and give love to the children? Why show tough love?

I know that people brag about their children, that's what parents do. My son is 2 and already knows the whole alphabet, his numbers, and mostly his colours, I teach him well, he is very polite, and excuses himself, says sorry, thank you, please, and your welcome. He just turned two and looks like a 4 yr old. He talks good. Our family members are amazed when he talks. They never believed us before. My niece is 4 and doesn't know her alphabet, but that's not her fault. I'm not saying my son is a proditgy, but I am saying he is smart. Our family members always say that everyone says that, but it's the truth. How come people are like this? Why won't anyone believe what people say anymore. My mother didn't even believe me until she wrote letters down on a doodle board and he started to say every one. She said that none of my siblings including myself even did that. why are people so rude when it comes to children?

So many parents now a days let their kids get away with so much crap. Picky eaters and fits and just doing whetever in the hell the kid wants to do. What happened to good ol' fashion I'm the MOM and that"s the end of it.

Kids need bounderies and discipline. Hell If I didn't have it my parents would be bald. If my kids didn't have it well my youngest would be dead because if he had his way all he would eat is cereal and with his health condition he need good nutrition that takes all four food groups to get.

No really, if I don't give my 3 year old boy a bath every other day, he smells like a puppy!

On that note, if I don't tell my 12 year old to shower- he won't! What's up with that?! Oh and he's got the man stink now (GAG) I've bought him cool shower gels and deodarants, but he still seems like he can't discern when to use it; what age does a boy start becoming interested in grooming?

I have two step daughters and five kids of my own they are 14,12,5,3 and 17months. I am five months pregnant and I was originally told I was having twins, which was shock enough but I was recently informed that I am infact having triplets. Financially this is not a huge problem although it will require a lot of forward planning. How do I plan ahead? Are there any mothers of twins or triplets, whats it like?Do you have a big family, how do you cope?
My hisband and I always wanted a big family and we are both nervous and excited but 10 kids is that ridiculous?

My baby is only a few months old but I want to learn how to teach her about finances and budgeting before I need to. I wasn't taught how to budget and I still have problems with it and I really want to teach my daughter the best way to handle her money when that time comes. Any ideas or creative ways of teaching her about this?

I am mostly interested in hearing from poeple who have this carseat, and have used it extensively.

Our daughter is 20 pounds and is in a standard rear-facing Graco carseat, but it is only rated to 22 pounds, so we are about to need a new one.

How does this seat rate on ease of use and safety testing?

My mum let my sun to sunbathing completly naked on a non-nudist beach (in S.E. Europe), because my sun forgot to put his swimsuit in his knapsack (posible to punish him). In our days, its ok for a child to be naked on a beach?
I remembar me in the late of the '80's at the age of 7 mybe 8 in the same situation as a boy with my parents on the same public beach, but in the '80's, it was common for parents to let children naked on a comunist beach (- probably 60-70% from kids under 7 y.o.was nudists -however, I remember me be in a embarrassing situation in my last nudist summer :-))
What is normal now?
