I remember this phase and I see it in many children. Usually at the age of 5-8 years, children will find some interest in the other gender. They stop hating because they become more curious about the unknown.

Not all children hate the opposite gender. They may hang out pretty much exclusively without "their own kind" but many kids often have the friend or two (or more) of the opposite variety.

Maybe an interesting study would be to find out which kids hate the opposite gender, why, and what happens when they grow up.

My kids never hated the opposite sex. I guess for the kids that do hate the opposite sex, I think that feeling goes away when puberty hits.
