I'm sorry. It recently came to my attention that some states are requiring that schools weigh children and send home notes if the child is obese. First thought.. Don't they think you know if your kid is chubby? Second.. if the parent cares won't they be already working on the weight issue, and if they don't care will a note help anything? So, doesn't this just increase the child's discomfort regarding their weight?

What would You do??

My son is going on 19 months and he doesn't say anything besides eh when he points at everything. I mean he babbles all the time. He used to have a binky in his mouth throughout the day and when we went to his 18 month appt the doc said to take it away from him. So I took it away during the day and just give it to him at night. He used to say mama and dada and doggy all of the time and now he doesn't say anything. He just points and even when we tell him what it is then hand it to him he still doesn't say anything. I am a sahm and talk to him all the time. I tell him what I am doing and tell him what we are going to do and just tell him what things are I read to him everyday and he still doesn't say anything. But he responds to me when I tell him to do something. I can tell him to go get his cup and he will go and get it and bring it back to me. He knows what I am talking about and what i am saying. The doc wants to get a hearing test done.. which I don't understand why if he listens..

Shes failing school and creating a stressful environment at home. Her favorite saying is i dont care.I cant afford boarding school. I would love to know if there was a lowcost program that i could enroll her in that would instill some fear in her, or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What would a Non-custodial parent gain by releasing parental rights of a child that parent currently pays to support?

I ask because someone I know is doing this, but I dont understand why. Does it stop the support?

The had an article in twins magazine about this. I never realized before I became the mother of twins how much these questions could get on ppls nerves. lol My top one is ...Are they twins? Let me explain my girls are fraternal but look exactly alike, they are almost 3 mths old both are 22 inches long, and only have a 3 oz weight difference. I actually flipped a bit and turned to a man and said," No I just had them really close together." lol I admit that wasnt nice. Also I have found that ppl will touch newborn twins alot more than they would a singleton. Like they think hey she has two if one gets sick she has the spare. One stranger actually kissed Jaden on the mouth when she was 2 mths. I always keep a 2 foot spread between me and any newborns. This is just common courtesy. Maybe those of you without multiples will think this is a rude question....4 mths ago I would have agreed. Not anymore lol

I am a new mother of a 7 week old girl. My husband and I moved in with his parents to help us get on our feet while I'm not working. Now I am having a problem with advice that I just dont want. If my baby is crying his mother will chime in "when did she have her last bottle?" If I'm going to put her to bewd she'll say "put her on her side she likes that." If she's crying for too long she'll add in " she just has a bellyache" and so on and so forth. I know what my baby likes and what she needs!! Also, is it wrong to feel negatively about having to "share" her with my mother-in-law just because we live with her. She will literally take her out of my arms or call her "my baby." She's not her baby! Lastly, I am always being watched. I'll be holding her or singing to her, you know, just interacting and sharing a special moment with my baby and I look over and she's staring at us. I've had it! I know it may seem harmless but I'm at my wits end with this. Any suggestions?

to spank or not to spank. I dont think there is anything wrong with a littl swat on the -ss when your child does not behave. You warn them once, you warn them twice, after that a little boot in the bottom never hurt anyone. Im not saying to keep swatting. one little swat will do the trick. And that is after two warnings. This time out crap is just that, crap. What do you think?

I am a mother of two children one being a 7 yr old little girl -my question is what the heck is going on in our world where little girls my daughter;s age think they are fat and need to go on a diet. My daughter's best friend spent the night and kept telling me she was fat and on a diet and was trying to look like the skinny girls on tv.. Why can't tv,hollywood and all these so called movie stars step up to the plate and stop making it look cool to be anorexic. Even with us as parents telling them -that hollywood girls are fake etc.... and it is allright to be yourself etc.....tv,magazines are still making girls feel that if they do not look a certain way -no one will want them...what more can we do to prevent this....

What is your view of spanking a misbehaving child? Is it abusive and will teach the children that their behavior is not in their own control (which I've read on several parenting websites), or do you think spanking is an appropriate parenting tool to help teach the child to behave?

~~Nao

P.S. I don't want to offend anyone by this question; I'm simply curious.

Congress is in the process of passing a law that would make it a crime to spank children. It would be considered a misdemeanor, the person would receive jail time, and a fine of $2,000. Now me, Im19 years old and i got spanked. I hated when my mother did it but it kept me out of a lot of potential trouble. Im still a kind of bad *** but it could have been worse. Im not in prison or anything. Takin into account that i may be pregnant with a child right now i do not want some law tellin me how to discipline my kids. There is a line between abuse and discipline. This woman that wants the law to be passed doesnt even have children! What are yr opinions on th issue?

The Father of my son, is more worryed about going to school then helping me take care of our son. My son is 10 months old and his dad has never even seen him once in his life. I was in labor for 26 hours and almost lost my son. And if i didn't have the help of my parents I don't think I could take care of my son by my self. The state I live in wont help me get on child support untill I'm 25, and right now i'm on 22. I really don't know what to do anymore. I cant get a job, because I haven't finished high school yet. I dropped out when I was in the 12th grade. And now i'm having a hard time trying to find a adult school that I can go to in Indiana. Most places around here only take you untill your 21. So if you have any help please write me back. Thanks everyone one who read this. Kristal

She is 11 and is failing two of her classes. she is SO forgetful. Finishes her homework but forgets to turn it in. Every answer she has for us is "i forgot" or "i don't know". had meeting w/teacher & she should be passing in all classes. is she wanting negative attention? she says no. We've punished & talked all we can to her about it. Could she have ADD? she's not hyperactive. We are trying so hard to help her...but what else can we do? She has no sense of urgency to improve...but she's a happy child.

What is the right age to stop bathing your children together? My daughter is 5 and my son is 2.
They really seem to enjoy taking a bath together and play so nicely.

She has been very alert since she was born. She pays attention to stuff other kids don't. She doesn't play with regular toys and she has so far been ahead of her age when it comes to development.

You know it really angers me at the number of teens that are intentionally trying to get pregnant by either tricking a guy into it, or just being selfish and thinking a baby would be fun and not thinking of how much of a responsibility it is to raise a child. I mean look at all of the couples who would love to have a child and then you see all of these irresponsible young teen-aged and even pre teen-aged girls getting pregnant because of entrapment or negligence. This really disturbs me because I don't think that people who are having kids for all the wrong reasons should be blessed like they are and the people who do deserve a child can't have one. Ugh this really does annoy the hell out of me
