My husband and I are considering having a baby. He is the "breadwinner" in the trades and I am a lowly paid teacher with her masters. I am conflicted on whether or not to be a FT mommy, work PT, or work FT. Teaching is usually a 60 hour a week job because of all the take home work...so I don't know how well I could balance this with the needs of an infant.

I'm sure this will open up a liberal/conservative debate, but I would love to hear from women who were perpexled by this decision themselves...

time education. He hasnt paid me a penny for well over 12 mths, cos he said he could not afford it.I have always worked altho at he moment things are tight, hours at work have been cut and my new partner has just set up his own business.I dont want to go through the csa that would take too long and he said he would give up work so he wouldnt have to pay me a penny. He currnetly lives with his new partner and her 1 child. He does not see much of his children cos that is the way his partner likes it she drove my kids away by making them feel bad if they wanted a packet of crisps that she had paid for!!If they went to his house i had to provide there food so they would not starve. They no longer visit them but im sick of him refusing to take responsibilty for them,we had a house together,i have paid the mortgage and paid for the refurb as he left it in such a state when i took it back from him due to him not paying. Can i take to him to court to sort this mess, his name is still on mortgage

I plan on being a full time stay at home mum when my baby is born in April. My question is, what should I say my 'career' is when asked on an official form etc?
I can't stand the expression 'housewife'! What do modern stay at home mums call themselves?
Serious answers only please!

I have a 3 year old nephew who is so very naughty and my sister is so stressed out trying to handle him. He hits her, yells at her and, well you name it he does it. It's like watching the nanny live. I don't know what to tell her or how to help her. I have 3 children and 39 weekd preg. with my 4th, but my kids never behaved the way my nephew does. Any ideas about how she should handle him?

I am asking because i believe you want to be able to talk to their father. Too many step moms try to take control away from father over concerns for their step children.
I am sure there are exceptions, but I am talking to moms who are involved with their children.
Do you feel less threatened by step moms who are willing to let you work out problems with children with their father?

My son, who turned 5 in December, HATES writing. He says that he's not smart and isn't good at writing. He really is struggling. He's in preschool and he can write his first name, and is trying to learn his last name right now, but it just seems really hard for him.
Do you think I should be concerned? Do you think he'll get it soon? My other concern is that he's started telling me that he isn't very smart since he started school and I don't really feel like his teacher is working with him? Any advice or experiences you've had would be appreciated.

Seems like I read an article about Africa and that there was a bunch of orphanages because of AIDS. That seems so sad that a child would have to grow up with out parents and a family.
Why don't they let more people adopt orphans? Even in the USA Children shouldn't have to grow up alone.
