Usually around 3 but it really depends on the child. For important events you could choose 2 or 3 outfits and ask which one would rather wear? This gives them some control without them looking too "interesting" as someone put it. I'm remembering my daughter who went through about an eight month phase of wearing these aqua colored socks with everything. I have picture of her, taken by a professional photographer all dressed up with these socks on. The photographer posed her so that the socks would not show and before he snapped the picture, she stuck her leg out from under her dress. It is one of my most cherished memories.

About 3 with no help from what I remember. I do know for sure that both my kids dressed themselves by the time they were 4.

I think I started at like 5. But it changes for each one. My sister could change herself at 4 or 5 but the colors really didn't cordinate. So I geuss it just depends on if you want your child to look cordinated or not. At least by 7 kids should know how to match though. But I think by 4 kids should be able to handle it. Hope I helped.

My twins are 2 1/2 years old, one of them tries to put on his own clothes, but of course still needs help. My 3 1/2 year old nephew dresses himself pretty much completely...backwards shirt and shoes on wrong feet but hey, he can do it! haha

it varies i think. in my opinion girls are earlier at this than boys. both my daughters get ready themselves one since age 2 and my youngest has since age 18 months. my son sometimes still needs help and he is 6 years. i think younger ones can copy older siblings, and therefore are more independent
